Rating: Summary: Investment made easier Review: I've been wanting to learn more about our finances and my husband was somewhat reluctant, until he got his hands on this book. He already knew about investing and saving for retirement, but this book made it more relevant that I should know more. My banker husband and I both loved this book. We now have a binder with all the pertinent info on our investments. I know what money is where and how much. Our 401k plan is maxed out--just as David advises. David takes you through what you need to know step by step. He's very convincing. Kudos
Rating: Summary: A Practical and Empowering Book for Every Woman Review: I picked this book up at the book store on a whim and what a great investment it was. I am pretty good at organizing and taking care of my finances, but this book really lit a fire under me to do more about saving and planning for a secure future. And it is so nice to have a man write such an empowering book for women... it adds to the mutual respect between the sexes. Great job David!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Guidelines Review: I highly recommend this book. I found it an excellent compilation of information necessary to understand financial issues, includes excellent excercises to put his suggestions into practice, and all in an easy to read and understand format. David Bach's book removes the intimidation factor from controlling your own financial future, and inspires you to get started right away.
Rating: Summary: Don't let divorce be your wake up call! Review: I saw this book in a local business publication. I went out and bought it the same week. I am the woman David writes about. I thought I had a good grasp on the finances, after all I balanced the check book, helped pay bills, knew where the money was, etc... But invest? No, my prince charming took care of that for "our" retirement, while I spent my money on daycare and the children's needs. I had a strong marriage with a husband who was looking out for us. Well, prince charming left me 4 days after my 30th birthday and 5 weeks after the birth of our second child. I am left with two children under the age of 4. I have learned soooooo much from this book. I have pitched it to all my friends that will listen. Women MUST save their OWN money. It is incredible what I have learned so far. I've signed up for 401K and written out all my values and goals. I've even discussed "savings" with my 4 year old son. I plan to buy this book for birthday gifts to my friends. Do yourself a huge service and READ THIS BOOK! Women empower yourselves. This is easy to read, follow and put into action. I now know what mutual funds, bonds, stock, and IRA's are. It's not hard and knowledge is power. Good luck!
Rating: Summary: great book Review: I bought this book for my wife. Now I'm going to buy it for my daughter and daughter in law. I'm even considering outlining it. The information is useful for everyone, not just women. Great book.
Rating: Summary: Financial literacy for the new millineum Review: All of my financial planning clients and friends are hearing about this excellent book for women! I totally agree with the author David Bach that one of the biggest challenges we face going into this new millineum is financial illiteracy. He addresses the common problem of many women who, after leading full,"rich" lives, end up with little or no money to retire on. This book will hit a soft spot in the hearts of fellow baby-boomers whose mothers (and fathers) have ended up in this trap. David Bach has given us a gift that may have arrived just in time for us to avoid the trap ourselves.
Rating: Summary: Helping all women build their financial security. Review: Smart Women Finish Rich will become your financial bible. Don't lend it out for you will continue to refer to it as you take the necessary steps to build your financial foundation. I have read this book from cover to cover twice and have already made changes that ensure my financial security. I have recommended this book to all of my female friends and family members and have talked to my children about what I am learning. I have even started helping them invest in their future. I would recommend this book to anyone, whether you have $100.00 a month to invest or $1000.00. Every women deserves to finish rich.
Rating: Summary: Simple yet Profound Review: The author's principles are easy to follow and as such, making your money work for you seems effortless. The book offers wise advice for women seeking financial security. I've been following it for the past 6 months and have been astounded as to how much better I've become at managing my money.
Rating: Summary: Really make a difference!!! Review: I have recently read David Bach's "Smart Women Finish Rich" and I really would recommend not only women, but everyone to read this book. Frankly, this book was recommended by my friend and has been lying on my desk for almost 3 months without even flipping the page. Even though 2 weeks ago I tried to start reading before going to bed, it hasn't gone far beyond the introduction. Then it happened 2 days ago I brought this book to the car dealership and read while waiting there for 3 hours. I just couldn't wait and instead of going straight back to my office, I went to the corporate benefit center and start investing to 401K and other stock options our company provided which I should have signed up for since my first day of employment. Plus, I spent that night writing my goals and values, trying to plan thoroughly about my future and where I should be heading towards. His theory is not limited just to improve personal finance but can apply across other goal or dream people might have. It really makes a great impact and I can feel I am more mature and realistic than myself 2 days ago. ( at least I am not considering myself as a financial illiterate anymore) David always stressed in the book " to help and add values to others" is the only way to success. It 's a simple theory but people sometimes may be blinded due to selfishness or greed. I believe in David's word and really want to share this book with million other people.
