Summary: A very entertaining story
Review: This story fascinated me from the first page and held my interest through the very end. I was captivated by the characters and the culture they showed me. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a book they can "lose themselves" in!

Summary: Aaaaalllllllmost!
Review: When I started this book, I was completely sucked in. The characters were interesting, their lives and situations good material for a book. Then came the character of Hatsumomo, and from then on I couldn't put the sucker down. This book is good, and worthy of all the praise and bestseller lists. The reviews are right though, it does lose its spunk near the end of the book. After Hatsumomo leaves the book is loosely constructed and dwindles away to the hollow romance we really didn't care about in the first place though. But, while the fire is there, it burns strongly. I still strongly recommend it.

Summary: Informative and enthralling..........
Review: This book gave me a chance to learn about how a geisha sees the world she lives in and how people see her for what she is. A geisha, in some countries, is synonymous with a prostitute or a callgirl. Arthur Golden tells us otherwise. Being a geisha doesn't make these Japanese women any less human. This memoir was an eye-opener for everyone and a lesson learned about the Japanese tradition and culture.

Summary: Gimme A Break
Review: I had heard a lot about this book. From the public, I heard nothing but good things. From my mom, she said drastically overrated. So I read for myself. <insert a HUGE yawn here> The characters had about as much flavor as water, and they could quench anything. This sort of thing happens all the time in any country. Don't waste your time. Read a Japenese business strategy book before this one. Moral: Always listen to Mom!

Summary: I found this book fascinating.
Review: I felt it really painted an extraordinary picutre of Japan and the life of a young girl with no money and no prospects. I found it fascinating and an enjoyable read.

Summary: The best book I have read in years!!!!
Review: The authors writing style is very enthralling, like being sucked into a time warp and taken on a delicious ride. I was at the point were I would havae to read the book at stop lights on the way to work.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Interesting trip to another culture and time
Review: "Memoirs" takes the reader to another world that few know of, and even fewer could tell of as well as Golden has. Now that I am done with the novel, I want to learn more about the geisha.

I look forward to Steven Spielberg's film adaptation.

Summary: The best book ever
Review: When i frist bought Memoirs of a geshia i kept it in my bookshelf for a while thinking it was dull. But one day i picked it up and started to read it and i was in another world! In Japan to be exact, I never read anything about a country i knew nothing about but this book taught me all about japan and now i feel that i almost could go to japan and know some things! i give it five stars!*****

Summary: I devoured this book from start to finish
Review: This was an incredible book that ranks up there with Haruki Murakami's Hard Boiled Wonderland - which is no small feat. I was entranced by the world of the geisha and could not get enough. I look forward to reading books of this quality.
