Summary: Not as funny as the publisher thinks it is.
Review: Lisa Scottoline is billed as a mystery author who can write thrilling plots with interesting characters. Unfortunately, in "Running from the Law", Scottoline's main character, Rita Morrone, is not as interesting or funny as are nearly all the other characters including the ones who get killed. Rita does such stupid, unethical things, while ascribing stupidity and venality to other characters, that I sometimes wanted to kill her myself.

The authorial use of unspoken comments by Rita that are diametrically opposed to her spoken comments is cute at first, but it gets a bit old after a while.

Summary: Great read
Review: Quick with a twisty end. This is an absolute must read for Philadelphians and the western suburbs. You will relate to the 'landscapes.

Summary: running from this "lawyer"
Review: Terrible. Poorly written, ethically stupifying (this author is a real lawer, and lectures in ethics???) God help the legal system of the U.S.A. But that aside, I really think the author completely missed the boat in terms of plot, characterization or suspense. It's easily Scottoline's weakest effort, at least among those I've read. She can do so much better; give this one the go-by.

Summary: Perfect for Commuting
Review: The audio book narrated by Barbara Rosenblat is perfect for the daily commute. Attorney Rita Morrone is a risk taker, in poker, love, and the courtroom. Her favorite weapon is the bluff, in this story against an unknown opponent who is demonstrably capable of bloody murder. The action moves right along, aided by Rita's sharp tongue (in asides to herself). Don't look for deep thoughts or the meaning of life in this book. For that matter, don't look too carefully at the plot. The holes in the evidence, in fact, add to the mystery, allowing for a wide range of suspects and bewildering Rita about whom she can trust. Some characters are always there for Rita, while others are nasty, and some are complicated and of questionable sincerity. I actually like that in a book, that some characters will never betray the heroine, and others might. Rosenblat does a superb job as narrator. She distinguishes all the characters and makes males convincingly masculine. I had no difficulty knowing when Rita was speaking to herself and when out loud. Rosenblatt's reading skill made the humorous scenes even funnier, as when an Italian-American was attempting a British accent by imitating various movie and TV characters.

Summary: Can't put down
Review: The book is totally unrealistic but it does not matter. It's a fun read that never bores. I have read one other book by Scottoline and find her to be an author that keeps the fun coming. I am not giving it a five star review because there was not enough of Rita in court, the only flaw with the book. Take it on an airplane with you and you will finish before the flight is over.

Summary: A book for the beach
Review: This book is easy to read and you can read it in one or two days, but it goes out of the story to many times, or I have to say to many chapters? You will laugh many times while reading the book but other times you will be boring of the way she explain other things that are out of the main story.
I can't tell you that this book is a waste of time but is not the best that I have read, If you have one or two days in the beach maybe you can read it there.

Summary: It was better than cats, I'll read it again and again.
Review: This book is so good, I feel lucky I found it on the shelves of Walgreens!! Seriously, I've never heard of the author until yesterday and now I'm a huge fan. I just finished my 3rd semester in law school, and I wish my classmates were as entertaining as the lead character. I finished the book in 3 hours- I could have put it down, but there were only re-runs on anyway!! Besides I HAD to know "who done it". Buy the book and read it, NOW

Summary: Scottoline's books define the phrase "can't put it down!"
Review: This is the third of Scottoline's books I have read. I'm no speed reader, but each book of hers I read takes me less and less time. I read Running From the Law in a Saturday morning. Her central character's sense of humor makes the book all that more enjoyable. This is not the last of her books that I will read. I can't wait for the next one. Hurry up, Lisa!

Summary: very disappointing and poor writing
Review: This was my first, and last, book by the esteemed author, Lisa Scottline. As a native Philadelphian, I was eager to read her books. Boy, was I disappointed. The plot was unbelievable and the writing below par.
