Summary: repetitive
Review: Some of these ideas are good to be reminded of. But this guy milked about five ideas into 100 separate items. First there's the title -- one good idea out of the way. Then there's a list of 100 "ways to keep the little things from taking over your life". If all the redundant ones were deleted, the book would be 10 pages long. One item is "Become More Patient". There's also "Don't Interrupt Others or Finish Their Sentences," "Become a Better Listener," "Create Patience Practice Periods," "Count to Ten," "Repeat To Yourself, 'Life Isn't an Emergency'" and "Relax" (which is redundant with half the book). The writing style feels a little sweet and condescending. The tips are valuable; the book is overblown.

Summary: Don`t sweat
Review: Stating the obvious in an obvious way may be fine. Many of these self-help books have come and gone, and here is yet one. Richard Carlson is a likeable guy, yet this deluge of platitudes dilutes the true power of words. When we really need them, we`ve heard the obvious statements so many times that we no longer listen. Example: The misuse of the word "love" has made it almost impossible to use it on the correct occasions in the right way, so that the power of the word is kept. Sooner or later, one tires of facile solutions to complex questions. And this is one such occasion - sorry that it had to be your turn, Richard Carlson. Had you called your book "Don`t sweat" (No need to exert yourself), my rating would have been higher. It would have been a more honest statement.

Summary: SMART MASTER OF THE OBVIOUS
Review: This book only talks about what we all already know: what our teachers, parents and priests always told us and we have somewhere deep inside us. The hard part is to put it in practice, because it has always been hard! That's why the world is violent, people commit suicide, people kill each other, etc, etc. So, a smart writer put all this obvious stuff (be gentle, be patient, be nice to your friends, etc, etc...) in a book and earn millions. I don't need this book to know how to live more easily, more friendly. Anyway, I give it 2 stars because sometimes it is good to read them.

Summary: It can change your life
Review: For anyone looking for an instuction book on how to live, this book comes pretty close. Carlson is insightful as well as practical. Anyone can follow the stuff that he prescribes--I know because I do. (Of course, I'm better at it at some times than others...)

Some people argue that he doesn't reference anything he says, so how can we know that it works? But I say that if you follow it, and it works, than that should be proof enough. It has worked for me, so I say no matter where he got the stuff, I don't care, just give me more!

I have a very busy life, and I find that this book works for me. This stuff can be done easily and is practical, so if you think you're going to snap if you have to go through every day as stressed out as you currently are, get this book.

Summary: What an eye opener
Review: I learned quite a few things from this little book. For a small book, it is full of alot of useful information. Most people don't see things in their relationships or even work that could be improved on. I learned that you don't have to have serious problems to improve them a little. Improving with little things can make a big difference. This would be a good book for anyone. Whether you are a workaholic or just need time for yourself. We make a big deal out of the little things because there are so many little things. Would be worth it to read again and again.

Summary: Thanks Maureen
Review: I received the idea of ordering this book from a nice lady from CA, thank you once more Maureen. This book is one of the best I ever read and I have it always with me at home, at work, where ever. If a situation arrises, keep cool, breathe once more and try to remember whats said about it in this book. It is a real bargain and I truely recommend it.

Summary: This is a must read for everyone!
Review: I stress out about the littlest things in life and this book helps to keep it in perspective. I am taking a class, Interpersonal Communications, and my school based the class on this book.

Summary: Paging Dr. Carlson... "Thank you!"
Review: In "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff...and it's all small stuff!", Dr. Richard Carlson continues to share his infamous wisdom. I know what you're thinking, this book can't apply to you because you or your work are detail oriented by nature. This book, actually, has nothing to do with overlooking details, it merely shows you how to avoid letting little things from taking over your life and putting things in the right perspective. In fact one of the greatest things I read in the book was a little chapter called "Remind Yourself That When You Die, Your In-basket Won't be Empty". Some other thought provoking chapters are entitled "Ask Yourself the Question: Will This Matter a Year from Now?", "Search for the Grain of Truth in Others Opinions", "See the Glass as Already Broken", "When in Doubt About Who's Turn it is To Take Out the Trash, Go Ahead and Take it Out". These and most of the 100 mini-chapters in this book are really quite refreshing in their viewpoint, and quite easy to apply in your own life. As an example, I have learned not to let bad driver's upset me anymore, I simply expect everyone on the road to have a license issued from a "cracker jack box"... so when a near miss happens, I am no longer surprised or upset! This is just one simple way to apply the techniques in "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff". This is a book that the whole office should read, as it's benefits are real and tangible. Dr. Carlson has done it again... well maybe that's why it's still a best-seller.

Summary: I look at things different now
Review: I'll be very minimal in words to convey how I feel after reading this book. I can stand in a line that goes around the supermarket several times and I say to myself""How can I control this situation? , No more road rage for me, I don't make fun of other people anymore, In general I am a better person to my wife, kids, peers and everybody out there. Thanks.
