Summary: Ishmael has forever changed how I view the world
Review: I read this book for the first time as an assignment for a philosophy class, I have read it many times since as a motivational force to inspire me to change my views of life and the world around us. If you've ever asked your self...."Is the way we are taught in school....the way it really is? You should definately read this book

Summary: Great Book, A Must Read
Review: This is truly a profound book. Not so much in the issues it raises, but in the unique way in which they are presented. It challenges our very core beliefs, that we "own" the planet and "rule" over other creatures. I believe people must read this book and confront the issues it raises, if we don't I am not sure what kind of world we will leave behind. I recently saw that gorilla infants in Africa are used as props at restaurants, designed to lure the customers in. The mother is killed, and the infant, who is terrified, usually doesn't last long. Made me think of Ishmael "With Gorilla Gone, Will There Be Hope for Man?"

Summary: A must-read!
Review: Looking for a pleasant read that is also intelligent and thought-provoking? Then this is the book for you! Brush up on those critical thinking skills and venture into new territory. For me, Ishmael provided a unified theory for thoughts that, up until now, had been disjointed - and this is critical for, without direction, one cannot take action. You may not agree with everything in this book, but that's not the point...the point is that this book will make you think. And thinking is something far too few books encourage these days.

Summary: Gods have heard, does human hear?
Review: Daniel Quinn's <<Ishmael>>is the great book in human history,it is the best book that I have even read. Now,population is the most serious problem in the world. It will cause human extinct, but no one can find way to solve the world,to solve ourself.<<Ishmael>>give me new apolcayple, new hope.If we:Takers can give up the ideas which govern the world, obey the rule which all creatures obey, become new Leavers.we may be the future, the good furtre. My English is not good,so I can't clearly express my ideas, but I can sure one thing:I am never deeply moved before I read this book.Thank you Daniel Quinn, thank you Ishmael, gorilla Ishmael.Although you died,I wii teach 100 people the thing which you tell me.I am sure, thank you you.

Summary: The destiny of man's life
Review: I was very pleased with Daniel Quinn's book Ishmael. After reading his book. I feel as though I have a destiny in life. I look at life in a more simplistic way other than our own life that is controlled by "mother culture." We at the merge of self dis-structing nature's ecosystems in order to reach that man's destiny of everlasting, perfect world, and taking our spiritual lives into our own hands can only determine what we will become into the future. Before you read this book think of this quote as you read, "With man gone will there be hope?" For the Christians out there and for those who are skeptical read Genesis chapters 1-4 to grasp the book even more and look up who Ishmael was in the Holy Bible in Genesis chapter s 15-17.

I hope you will enjoy the book as much as I do!!

Summary: It made me think with a spiritual sense, not physical senses
Review: I totally enjoyed the book. It made me look at things that sometime I take for granted. I believe you have to get "out of yourself" to truly understand Ishmael, and if you can accomplaish that, you will understand exactly what the "more" intelligent being tried to convey to the human being.

Summary: This is only the tip of the iceberg.
Review: Ishmael presents wonderful ideas that everyone should hear. After reading it, however, my life was not changed. It was only after reading other Daniel Quinn books that I realized Ishmael is the introduction to a treasure of information. The ideas may challenge alot of people, but can only be dismissed by those fully under the spell of "Mother Culture".
