Rating: Summary: Another Drucker Masterpiece Review: Drucker has done it again. I'm sure he's forgotten more about management than most writers know. Another very timely work with profound insights which I highly recommend is RESPONSIBLE MANAGERS GET RESULTS, by Gerald W. Faust, et al. It provides several practical approaches for dealing with the challenges Drucker so vividly describes.
Rating: Summary: Why this Century Will Be Known as the Drucker Century Review: Happy 90th Birthday, Peter! In this impressive volume, Peter Drucker takes another useful step forward in outlining what must be done to finish birthing the Knowledge Age. As the 21st century grows to be dominated by knowledge work and knowledge workers, this volume will be one of the touchstones that will show the way for each of us to live better, more productive lives. I wish someone would establish a Drucker prize for the greatest contribution each year to the advances of the Knowledge Age. Drucker's name will always be associated with this development in the same way that we think of Gutenberg and Luther with regard to the introduction of the printed word.
Rating: Summary: very good book Review: the book is a real masterpiece but topics like falling birth rate have hardly any relevance given the senario in developing countries like india. these concepts may well be true else where but not in india where still they are coping with problems of high birth rate.
Rating: Summary: A New Information Age Review: Drucker, a great management master, attracts the attention to the effective use of the information. This is an important point to understand why some people and firms dont be succesful. Because crude informarion is not important, information gains meaning when firms and people impute to it.
Rating: Summary: Applicable to the management of organizations and yourself Review: Chapter 6 on Managing Oneself has opened my eyes to my own learning and communicating styles and how to understand those same things with my collegues in order to develop better working relationships. (Used as a text in MBA school)
Rating: Summary: Excellent macro view; the best value in management... Review: This is the first time I have read a book from Peter Drucker. I am truly impressed by his visiualization and articulation of macro management issues. Of all the books I have read in the last 2 years on business, economics and management; this is one of the best. It has greatly broadened by perspective and made me aware of the issues that are not very obvious today. It further augments the relational database of my brain and will help me relate and analyze significant social, political, economic and management changes from a global as well as a local perspective. This will help me understand things most relevant in my lifetime (of the past as well as next 100 years). A must read for anybody who is interested in excellent macro perspective and insight on management.
Rating: Summary: A profound blueprint for the future of our management career Review: Mr. Drucker's in-depth analysis is unsurpassed both in its common sense and significance for the executive of any age and/or responsibility. The author's exceptional communicating ability makes the lecture of this book a wonderful intellectual exercise for all of us in management.
Rating: Summary: Pole Stars for Strategic Thinking and Personal Planning Review: One of the most powerful ways that we all learn is by analogy to our own lives, and Peter Drucker has done his best job ever at providing those analogies. For example, he refers to the leadership model of a volunteer organization as the preferred way to lead knowledge workers, as well. Almost all of us have been or seen someone who effectively led volunteers. The other great way to learn is to answer questions, and this book is full of them. In fact, it is almost like getting two books: a book and a workbook. Like many of his recent books, this book is organized into essays, except these are much longer than most and provide more detail. One thing I liked about this book was the way that he pointed out what was going to be different in the next century from the current one. Although all of these changes are well underway, their pervasiveness will grow greatly so that they will replace many existing issues in importance. My experience with his past books has been that they are excellent at pointing our thinking in the right direction for decades, and I believe he has done it again. Although some of these themes will be familiar from othe reading or other Drucker books, what will be new is much more detail about what to do differently. Some may feel that they already "get the message" but I doubt if anyone has already "gotten all the messages" he presents here. You owe it to yourself to check your thinking by testing with this book.
Rating: Summary: I have lern a lot of this book. I recomend it. Review: I`m a student of Business and I learn a lot in this book. It has a powerful comparation with the old paradigms of Business
Rating: Summary: When The Guru Speaks ... You Must Listen !! Review: Peter Drucker once again has floored me with his insights and ideals. As he pointed out in the introduction, this is not a book of predictions. But what he did provide were insights into issues facing management and soon to be facing management. If you plan on managing into the future you really need to read this book!
