Summary: Amazing!
Review: This novel is great. Don't be fooled when they call it "science fiction," as the world portrayed in this novel is disturbingly similar to our own. It only takes a small stretch of the imagination to picture our society developing (eventually!) into what Bradbury describes in this book... A must-read for any free-speech activist, as it deals mainly with censorship, as well as anyone who likes reading dystopian fiction! (Too bad I read it two years ago and don't remember it very well!)

Summary: Slipery Simon's Book Review
Review: Fahrenheit 451 is about a middle aged man named Guy Montag. Guy is a fireman but, instead of putting out fires he starts them. Since all the houses have been fire proofed years ago there was nothing left for firemen to do so they started burning books. Books were a feared thing in the time of Guy. They are mysterious and scarey things so they must be burned.

This was a good read. It was short, but excellently writen as are most of Bradbury's books. It was suspensfull and full of detailed descriptions about everything ranging form the color of the sky to the warmth of the burnig pages of the books. Infact I thought that sometimes there was a little too much description, but that was just me. I really liked the plot. THe idea was really good. Overall it was a very enjoyable book and I would recomend it to everyone. Even if you dont like science fiction I think you could apreciate the way it was written and the elegeant descriptions.

Summary: Overrated!
Review: I found this book to be very dry and boring. I tried to compare this to The Giver, and I just conuldn't. I know that there are some good points to it, but not enought to sit and read it over and over again.

Summary: Sweet, sweet irony
Review: The irony of this book always slayed me. Here is a book of a future where books are like drugs: outlawed, sold on the black market, and if there's a "library," firemen destroy it. And the added bonus is that the main character, a loyal fireman, has a library! The irony that gets me is that this book is about banning books, yet it is a banned book, so nobody read it! (Ha ha, just kidding folks!)

Summary: One of the best views of modern thought ever.
Review: When i first found this book in my eighth grade social studies classroom, the catchy title and the mysterious message lulled me. Beforehand i had never read Bradbury, or had been interested in him at all. The book changed everything for me. This insane landscape of mindlessness and of throwing away free thought enchanted me mentally and i was hooked. Mr. Bradbury is one of the greatest liberal thinkers in the world. Reading 451 can break the silly chains of political bias, and start you thinking for a change about how much freedom you need and how much you should use it. The ignorance and greed in us today echoes the insane eletric city of the firemen, and we mustnt shut our minds off to the world of literature and creativity if we ever wish to truly think about life.

Summary: A Must Read For Anyone Interested In Censorship
Review: I absolutely loved this book. It is very easy to read, but very complex when looked at in depth. It really changed my views on government censorship. The short piece at the end of the book about the changing of various stories to make them "politically correct" is worth the price of the book itself. Bradbury is a brilliant man and this is one of his best books. I would recommend this book to all readers.

Summary: Not like any other sci-fi book.
Review: I hate science fiction books.

So why am I giving this book 5 stars? Because it's simply wonderful, that's why. You won't get that feeling from the first couple pages, but if you stick with it, I swear, you will. The end of the book is best. The thoughts that Bradbury puts into his character's minds are so beautiful, sharp, and alive. I guess I like this book because even though it is supposively sci-fi, it's REAL too. The emotions are real, and even the setting & society are familiar. It's wonderful. I started out hating it. Don't give up on it! Keep reading. I'm a sophomore in high school . . . but everyone, regardless of age should read this.

Summary: This book is a little too far out
Review: Not being a avid science fiction reader, I was not as fond of this book as many of my peers were. I thought this book seemed a little to "far out" compared to what I am used to in a book. Although I found this book somewhat akward, I do still find it an alright book and well written, that is why this book is awarded three stars.

Summary: Fahrenheit 451, the Temperature at Which Books Burn.
Review: The book Fahrenheit 451 is a great book to read. It is about a futuristic world that we all fear. This is a where freedom of speech and thought are completely taken away. Guy Montag is a fireman but instead of putting fires out they set things on fire. The things that they set on fire are books and and the houses that hold the books. Later in the story they talk about Guy Montag meeting this girl named Clarisse. They engage in deep conversation and he soon learn to like the small things in life. After he met her he realizes how dull and boring his family really is. In the end of the story he escapes from the city after killing the fire-cheif and taking a couple of books with him. Guy Montag has the ability to like his job without knowing what he is actually doing to the society. He went to work and liked to watch the book get consumed by the flames. I would recommend this book to other readers. I think the book was interesting and very challenging. The book was fun to read and that is why I would recommend this book to other readers.

Summary: Fahrenheit 451 is a creepy book
Review: This book painted a very dark and bleak future for mankind. Part of the future is firemen that don't fight fires but rather burn books. Why? Because the powers that be determined that what was in books could offend, confuse, depress, and sadden people, etc.

Fahrenheit 451 depicts a society where it is best to make books illegal and burn them in order to keep society "politically correct". Just keep people happy watching television and and doing other mindless activities.

I thought the book was well done in depicting the dilemna one firefighter faces and the actions he takes while living and working in such a world.

The book probably deserves 3 1/2 stars.
