Review: SOILDER`S HEART
Solders heart was very descriptive book I felt that I was really there when I read it. And I think he was only 15 when he joined the army. In the book at the second day of the civil war he drank from a river which had a dead guy up stream. When he left his hometown to join the war he wanted to be a man and when he got to the war he did not like it very much.
And when the first day of the civil war he hated it was called bullrun. And I thought what the y did for warmth was very nasty the y stacked up dead corps they made a wall of over 5000 men dead men .They thought there dead they wont feel it .I think you should read these cool book
The man who made this book was Gary Paulsen he made a very cool book if you read it you can see physical images of what you read in your head. If you love war books this is the war book for you so come get it at any library in town. So it also includes the war of gettesburg I really enjoyed this book allot so will you. And if you want to know if charly goes through the war alive he just might die I love this book try it...

Review: Soldier's Heart

Soldier's Heart is a very good book, but grousum. Charlie Goddard, a fifteen-year-old joins the army because he thinks it will make him a man. He lies about his age because he thinks he can handle it, but he is wrong he can't handle it.
Gary Paulsen is a very popular writer. He does a great job on the description because it makes you feel like you are actually in the war. If you like to read war books then this is the book for you. Anyone who thinks war is a something to blow off then you are definitely wrong. If you have already read this book then you can read it again.
To me this book is really exciting because it makes you feel like you are there in the war fighting because the description is unreal. It makes you visualize all of the people suffering and dying. The question is will Charlie Goddard die or live? If you want to find out then read it.

Review: SOLDIER'S HEART
Soldier's Heart is about a boy named Charley Goddard who is 15 years old. When you are 18.years old can join the war. But he tells them he is 18 but he really is 15. He didn't think war could be this bad but he saw his friends lying on the ground dead or wounded. Towards the end he realizes war is very gruesome
I think the main theme in the book is don't do something your going to regret. And war is more grossed than you think.
What I like in this book are the different things to war. Today we shoot at each other in war but we don't stand in the middle of a field and let people shoot right at us. Back then we had muskets. Now we have machine guns. Could you imagine pounding musket balls into a gun rather than holding in a trigger and shooting? Anyway the end of the story sounded nice he sat and ate and listened to the water. And And..............................!

Review: "SOLDIERS HEART"
"Soldiers heart" is a great book because it is about a 15-year-old boy Charley and he wants to go to war because he wants to be a man. But he is15 years old and to be in war you have 16 years old and up. How does he really go to war?"
"I think Gary Paulsen the author wants the readers to get the idea about war and how dirty and gross war is because he explains the details all through the book."
"I like the book because I like these kinds of books. And he made all the characters seem real in the book. Plus it is a good way of getting the taste of war. Go to your local library or to your school library."

Summary: Soldier's Heart Jake
Review: Soldier's Heart is about a boy named Charley who wanted to show that he was a man at the age of fifteen . He thought he could show it by going to war. He wasn't old enough so he said he was 18 and the generals believed him they believed him! When Charley got to the battlefield it wasn't even close to what he had imagined.

I think they were trying to say that war is not a pretty thing and that when some people come from war they get soldier's heart. They are trying to say that war is a lot different than what it is like now.

I liked the book because it really showed what war is like and it is based on a real story. I also liked it because it tolled what really happens in war to people and why war is not a nice thing to be in. The author gave a good taste of what the Civil War was like. What happens at the end of the story? Does he win? Will you find out what soldier's Heart is? Read the book and find out!

Summary: Cody Starr's Soldier's Heart book
Review: Soldier's Heart
Soldier's Heart is about a boy named Charley who is only 15 years old and he goes to war and becomes a soldier in the Civil War. In the middle of the story a guy named Nelson got a Belly wound and Charley wants to help, but a Lutenet soldier tells him to leave Nelson behind. Charley gave Nelson his container of water to help him. At the end of the story Charley dies. Before he dies he thinks about his own life, and then he passes away.

I think Gary Paulsen wanted to show his readers what a soldiers heart is really like, how hard a real soldier works, especially to show you the real meaning of being in a real war, and how bad it is to be in a war. Gary is trying and doing a good job to convince the reader to learn about a real war and a real soldier's heart.

My favorite part is when Charley tries to help out Nelson's Belly wound because Gary is just showing that Charley cares about his friends. I also liked the way Gray tried to convince the readers to help out others unless you know they will die soon. Then just let them be. So far what do you think it is like just from me telling you about it? Would you like to read it? I think you should because it is a really good story, and I think you should read it because it tells and shows you that War isn't really funny. It might be to you, but when you read Soldier's Heart you will notice it isn't funny at all it is serious and sad. By, Cody

Summary: The "Horror of Combat"
Review: A Soldiers Heart by Gary Paulsen is a great book that gives specific details of the Civil War. Charley Goddard is a fifteen year old boy that lies about his age so that he can join the First Minnesota Volunteers--part of the shooting war in 1861. Charley thought his experiences with the Volunteers was just an adventure; he later found out that it was actual combat on the front lines. Charley fought battle by battle and literally saw the "horror of combat."

I believe the age levels for this book could be middle school or high school. It is a very easy and short book to read, therefore any student would like it that much more. Personally, I feel like this book would be very appropriate in today's society because it deals with a real life issue--war.

I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it!!

Summary: Only 15!
Review: A Review by Nic

A 15-year-old Charley Goddard herd the army needed more soldiers and decided he was going to lie about his age and sign for the army. He left his home and be came a soldier. Charley went to war and had second thoughts about the army. He saw things he never thought he would. From the first war to the last Charley never gave up. He saw soldier after soldier die right next to him, their blood splattering on his face. Charley got sick every now and then but who wouldn't when you see the faces of your friend dieing.

I liked this book because it had great description. It sucks you into the book you can't set it down. I my self, not much of a reader but this book made me read and have fun. The detail of soldiers being shot or blown to bits is amazing. Brought the setting and sounds to life. This book relates to every teenager is one way or another. The only thing I didn't like is that the writer doesn't tell you what the characters look like very much; I think the writer just wants you to use your imagination.

I strongly recommend this book to teenagers that like gore and can handle it. Or teenagers that are thinking about going in the army or wanting to be a soldier. If you're not the greatest reader this book is easy to read and to follow.

Summary: Boy in Battles
Review: A Review by Seth

The book Soldiers Heart is about a boy named Charley who goes to fight in the Civil War. He is a 15 yr old boy that lives with his family and leaves to go fight. Through out the war he writes letters and sends money back home to his family for food and supplies. He was interested in what was going on but realizes that the war was not something that was fun or interesting. He fights in Battle of The Bull Run and many other battles on the east and southern part of the United States.

Three things I liked about the book were the descriptions, characters, and the fact that it was about the Civil War. The descriptions that they have were really good. It talks about how the people die and all the fighting and shooting. As an example: Charley helps out a dying soldier by giving him a gun to shoot and Rebels that come in. The description was of his wounds and the blood. The characters were pretty good. You get a sense of reality when they talk and do things like the battles. It tells you what the people look like and how they act. Like during one of the battles he says how the Rebels are charging and screaming. The last thing I liked about it was the fact that it was about the Civil War. It to me is a really good book about the Civil War because not many other books will go into detail about the hospitals and patients. It seems like the book comes alive.

I would recommend this book to people that love descriptive books or just books that are easy to read. This book has everything I like in it description, war, blood and gore, and lastly a real story.
