Rating: Summary: Thumbs Up Review: I loved it. Fast reading and, as usual, over too soon. I love the adventures of Eve and Rourke. I think the ending could have been a little stronger and definitely more suspenseful. Ricker was taken down so easily that it was a bit of a letdown. I enjoy the series and overall loved this book.
Rating: Summary: A bit of a Disappointment Review: I have loved JD Robb's "In Death" series and waited impatiently for this new addition. While I enjoyed it, especially the tension between Eve and Rourke and the evil character of Riker, I was disappointed overall. Once into the book, I thought that either Eve or Rourke would be captured by Riker who would try to compromise them in some diabolical way. I thought it was a bit flat and that McNab and She-Body were virtually ignored. I do agree with a review listed above that the dialogue between Eve and Dr. Mira was priceless and that Mavis's character has evolved nicely. In a movie, wouldn't Jamie Lee Curtis be a great Eve and John Stamos a credible Rourke?
Rating: Summary: An Excellent Installment to the Series Review: It's amazing how J.D. Robb makes this series so fresh and exciting book after book. Judgement in Death is a great contribution to the series. We get new insights into Eve and Roarke's relationship when it is put to the test in a surprising way. The only thing is I wish more time was spent on Peabody and McNab's ongoing affair. Other than that the book was excellent. Recommended to all fans!
Rating: Summary: ANOTHER WINNER FROM JD ROBB Review: I am constantly amazed at this quality series produced by JD Robb (aka Nora Roberts). The story is unique, witty & hooks you after the 1st page! This series is a shining example of a fantastic and unique story that should never end!!! This edition of Lt. Eve Dallas does not disappoint the "In Death" fans! In my humble opinion its probably one of the best in the series (the original Naked in Death being the best). WOW - there is a lot of steamy action between Eve & Roarke (again) but the story has a great plot, in depth characters & great interaction between them. Eve has to track a killer that ultimately leads her into the seedy underworld. She has a series of murders to solve; corruption and deceit continue to impede her investigation which ultimately touches her life with Roarke. They both have to deal with their past & present. I cannot say more without giving the plot/story line away.... The book is not only suspenseful, but sexy and humorous. I find myself laughing out loud at the antics of Peabody and McNab (again). The best & funniest line is from Dr. Charlotta Mira (about halfway in the book Eve has a "talk" with Dr Mira about Roarke) -- you'll know it when you read it... I read the book in 2 days! and will re-read it many times more... its definitely another one for my collection. I just don't think I can hold out another 12 months for the next "In Death" series.
Rating: Summary: Will I Ever Get Enough of these Characters? Review: What is left to say about Judgment in Death? Nothing except I am one of millions hooked on this series. How J. D. Robb can consistently crank out these books is beyond me! Has there ever been a more fascinating couple other than Eve and Roake? In every series there is usually one or two books that don't live up to expectations. This is what--book tweleve or thirteen? They just keep getting better and better. I for one, would love to see more scenes with just Eve and Roake. You know there has to be more to their relationship that hasn't been revealed yet. It is murder knowing I have to wait for the next installment of this series, especially since there wasn't an excerpt in the back of this one. All I can say, READ and ENJOY!
Rating: Summary: Her next book... Review: Robb does it again. Although, I thought it started slowly the ending packed a punch. The Eve/Roarke relationship was well played however I missed the dynamics of Peabody/McNab. A number of reviewers were curious to know the title of her next "in death" book, according to Publisher's Weekly Fall Preview, BETRAYAL IN DEATH will debut February 2001.
Rating: Summary: Felt like an "Old Time" Eve Dallas book Review: Let me start off first, I love this series. This book brought back all the intrigue and thrills of the early Eve Dallas novels. It was not bogged down with numerous sub-plots involving the secondary characters (whom I enjoy reading about very much, but sometimes their tales detract from the mystery.) The plot did not center around some crazed genious intent on blowing New York to kingdom-come. This book was about murder, betrayal, and loyalties. I thought it was a brilliant read. Every page kept my attention. The little teases Ms. Robb/Roberts gives us about future story lines are wonderful. Another small fraction of Eve's past is revealed - just enough to keep us nibbling about her history. As hard as it is, I will try not to ruin the plot. In a word, this book was excellent. If you like supernatural crime/thrillers, I highly recommend the Jack Fleming Vampire Files by P. N. Elrod, and the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter novels by Laurell K. Hamilton. I can hardly wait to get my hands and eyes on the next Eve Dallas book!
Rating: Summary: Judgment in Death Review: This one is right up there with the rest, a real page turner till the end. If you like the others in this series you will like this one too.
Rating: Summary: My favorite so far! Review: I just got through reading JID and it was awesome, they just keep getting better and better. A good bit of Roarke in this one which was a nice surprise. Some great tension between Eve and Roarke as well, I think these two are at their best when they fight and make up. I can almost hear his Irish accent coming through the pages when it creeps in. Ricker was chilling and the suspense throughout kept me on the edge of my seat. Some great surprises, I don't want to give them away. All our favorite secondary characters are there as well. I don't know how I am going to hang in till the next one, I will definitely read this one again.
Rating: Summary: Coming perilously close to only 3 stars. Review: While I distictly enjoyed this book and it's characters, I am starting to feel that J.D. Robb is settling for formulae instead of originality. I found that ending of too similar to the previous "Witness in Death" and that it was too easy for me to figure out who the murderer was. Also, I belive that Roarke departed from his usual characterization at least once in this novel. I sincerely hope that the next book will go back to "outstanding" instead of merely "a good read".
