Rating: Summary: A big you-can-do-it pep rally! Review: Reading this book only reiterates how refreshing it is to find someone like Jesse. This book is a no holds barred personal account of his views, his past and his vision for a better Minnesota. He makes no apologies for who he is and what he stands for. This book is a promise between Jesse and the people of Minnesota that lays out everything on the table. He's not a genie that will make everything better but his goals to tackle education, political reform and the tax system are definitely a great start. He has nothing to hide and leaves it up to the reader to make up his/her mind. While at times it seems a bit self-congratulatory he has earned it all through his hard work and I found myself cheering him on. It is a motivational book and his realism and presence makes his words infectous. Hopefully people will pick this book up and give it and Ventura's ideas a chance. I would recommend it to those who would like to hear a more centrist view of the world.
Rating: Summary: Very Entertaining Review: Stick to Politics or Wrestling Jesse, coz you can't act and you definately can't right (He thinks coz Arnie thinks he's a good actor it must be true) Don't waste your hard earned money on Jesses Liberal drivle, Ted Dibiase would be better, or if you want a decient read try one of Mick Foley's Books.
Rating: Summary: An Interesting Character in American Politics Review: You truly get to know Jesse Ventura in this book.Duh, of course you get to know him. He wrote it! What I am saying is that it helps to get a grasp on this complex yet simple man. Little of what you hear him say in public becomes surprising after reading this. He attacks the prose like a wrestler, boasting and pontificating. He throws out memorable slogans. And if you can filter some of that, you see a bit of his fallability, mainly in his hypocrisy. He repeatedly claims how much of his accomplishments have been through good luck. Yet it doesn't occur to him that people can have bad luck. To him, it's their own fault. Jesse still hasn't figured out where he is on the political spectrum, but he is a thorough libertarian. And still, if he hasn't figured himself out, it's fun to join him on his ride to find out what he is. Even though I came away from the book losing respect for him, I enjoyed the reading.
