I really enjoyed reading "The Relic". There's never a dull moment! If you love a thrilling adventure with a twist of mystery and horror, this is the book for you!

Summary: Standard Thriller...with Thought
Review: Combine Die Hard and Jurassic Park and you get an idea of what you're in for with Relic. Relic reads like a feature film and its nothing if not fun. Sure, the action is somewhat predictable and the characters are a little shallow but this is pure entertainment. Unlike other novels in the genre, however, Relic is well plotted and researched. This is a must for your list of summer reading.

Summary: I thought it was rather silly.
Review: Almost like an Ed Wood movie. Super-duper super-sophisticated FBI agent carrying a gun (a full metal jacket .45 five-shot REVOLVER?) that is unloaded - he waits until he is on a public walkway to load it (.45's are automatics); another goofy cop spinning his gun around on the table (sounds like a friend of the doopy cops in Ed Wood's "Plan 9" who used their guns to scratch their heads.All the cops, except of course for super-duper, sound like Ed Norton or something. Hey, if these guys don't even know what street the Museum of Natural History is on, how much can they really know about it? It's between 77th street and 81st streets. It's not on 72nd street. About that bit in the flooded tunnel - why didn't someone just boost someone else up to the ladder? It was a silly story. The only part that interested me was the descriptions of the parts of the museum that are not open to the public, but how much of that description is accurate? 2 1/2 stars.

Summary: So-So Horror
Review: Preston and Childs fans fall into two camps: those that prefer their earlier horror novels, and those that prefer their action-adventure books. I am in the latter category. The Relic has good atmosphere and some decent action and horror sequences, with a barely plausible monster-on-the-loose plot. The characters are less developed than in the authors' later work, though they are sufficient for material this thin. There's a pretty faithful movie version starring Penelope Ann Miller - a bit simplified - that'll save you the time and trouble, if you just want a quick look to see if this is your cup of tea. Relic and Reliquary are good reads for the juvenile set, or those adults who like Jurassic Park and Alien and aren't too picky about logical problems in the science of their horror-suspense novels. The only real problem with either book is that there's nothing that stands out about them. They're average horror, and if that's what you're looking for, you won't be disappointed.

Summary: I'd give this book 10 stars if I could
Review: This is one of the most fascinating, spellbinding, interesting, and suspensful books I've ever read. The authors really did their research, and wrote it down in language any layperson could understand. This book was very well thought out and the ending wrapped up everything by answering "how and why" to all your questions. I loved this book!

Review: If you want to read a fascinating thriller that will keep you glued to every page, this is the book for you. I couldn't put it down. Well written and well crafted, the authors' draw you in. You will never look at a museum the same way.

Summary: A great ending!
Review: I never saw the movie version of this, and I am glad that I didn't, it would've spoiled the ending of this novel. It gets a little slow in places, but the ending surely makes up for it! The subject is very interesting, as the first part of the novel is about the beast being evloved from something ........ read and find out!

Review: Great book. A quick entertaining read. I would have rated it better if I hadn't just read the other books that they had written, I got tired of the rain. Loved the suspense. A real page turner. Can't wait to read the sequel.

Summary: Creepy setting and neat monster grace average story.
Review: Relic impresses with its great, big creepy haunted museum setting and a somewhat nifty monster menace lurking deep within it. On the downside I found the Fox Mulder/Sherlock Holmes inspired Super FBI Agent hard to swallow and the book's narrative unfolds unevenly. Relic follows monster story conventions fairly closely, so an informed read can guess as to what is going to happen next with a good degree of accuracy. On the upside, the book still offers more than a fair amount of nail biting suspense, chills and grue. Monster fans will need no real encouraging to read this, but I encourage them nonetheless. Recommended.

Summary: The best (no question about it!)
Review: Hi. (...) I am 12 yrs. old and I read The Relic. I am doing a project about it in school. It is the best book I have EVER read. It has amazing detail and it has such a spooky idea. I recommend it to anyone who is reading this. I am getting the sequal right away. I told all my friends at school to read it and they did and they all loved it. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 35!
