Rating: Summary: Boring Review: I am not sure if the reviewers who called this a "page turner" ever read one prior to this. The book started off boring and had trouble ever becoming more than mildy interesting. I would recommed less descriptive detail and more character development..maybe just even one likable character. The end was decent but it does not make up for a bore of a book as a whole.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Fabulous! Review: This is the first book of Sandra Brown's that I have read and I plan on reading many more. If you are a fan of Grisham, this novel is sure to please as long as you can take a little bit of romance mixed in with the suspense. This book is very difficult to put down and once the story ended I actually re-read the last few chapters. I am recommending this book to all of my friends!
Rating: Summary: Good Thriller Review: Sandra Brown has yet again prove her ability to weave the magic of her writing into her reader's mind. The Alibi tells us a story about how far a person would go to hide the truth from their neighbours, and how a small town that seemed like an ordinary town turned out to be one giant crime web. The bbok is good, but the plot are predictable, even to the bad guys, although you might be surprised by one or two of them. But I'd say that if you love a good thriller, this is one book that you may consider to read, with pleasure.
Rating: Summary: I tried Review: I hate it when I try out a #1 bestseller and can't get far enough into it to get interested. I put this book away after about 80 pages. The characters were neither likable nor despicable, they were just shallow and boring. The reviews indicated this was going to be a page turner - did this book come out on the coat tails of something fantastic by Ms. Brown? The spawning romance was unreal and unrealistic, the angst of the main characters (or at least who I assume were going to be main characters) had no discernable cause. Everyone was dark and disturbed, but what about? The mystery to me was going to be how many pages until something interesting happened.
Rating: Summary: The Alibi Review: Fast paced and exciting. Set in Charleston this is absolutley one of my favorite Sandra Brown novels. She's the best ever!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Read Review: Sandra Brown put her heart and soul in this novel. It's shows it's exciting and very gripping. Good Job I can't wait to read the Switch.
Rating: Summary: At long last Review: I enjoyed this book very much, after a couple of really uninteresting ones. I think now Ms. Brown has recaptured her earlier style: a great plot plus interesting characters
Rating: Summary: Will the real Sandra Brown please start writing again.... Review: Ms. SB has put out another SNOOZER. Literally, I fell asleep reading this book.I used to wait on pins and needles for her next book. But not since I read "Fat Tuesday". And this latest book, "The Alibi", was more of the same. Her earlier books (before "Fat Tuesday") left me feeling close to the characters, like they were real. There was romance, danger, mystery and I've read them 'til they fell apart. This book left me not caring about the characters at all. They were so unremarkable, I had to keep reading back to remember who was who and with whom. They were so shallow, there was nothing admirable in any of them. The Rory character almost made it (dark, brooding, if you like that kind of hero) but wasn't developed enough to go beyond "interesting". Davee was a rich-witch with no redeeming qualities. Hammond was a wet noodle trying to be a tough guy. Alex was just plain pitiful for all her education and occupation. (Hammond and Alex deserve each other) The Steffi character had a patently male attitude on sex and careers ("gimme some quick, I've got a meeting") I couldn't empathize with either character when Hammond dumped her. I'm left, once again, sorry I spent money on a Sandra Brown book. If I read her again, I will wait until I can borrow the book.
Rating: Summary: Corruption, Romance and suspenseful twists! Review: A great way to spend a cold day inside the house! Several times I thought I figured out who the killer was, only to change my mind and continue to be surprised. The story between Alex and Hammond was original and I couldn't help but route them on, despite the obstacles mounting against them. The other characters were fabulous: Rory as the complex detective; Davee, who you wanted to hate for being rich and promiscous, but you couldn't; Steffi, who made it so easy to hate her. A great mix of corruption and romance made for an excellent premise and a truly enjoyable read. I will continue to buy books written by Sandra Brown.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: This was a wonderful "listen". The narrator added to the suspense and the sexual tension perfectly. While I was a little leary about Sandra Brown fearing the story would be too trite and predictable, I was pleasently surprised. From someone with a very long commute and a dependancy on audio books I can recommend this one whole heartedly. The story was outstanding and the voice talent enhanced the experience rather than distracting from the story.
