Summary: Disturbing and Beautiful
Review: The heros are like ice sculptures: gorgeous, priveledged, and freezing cold. The book takes the movie to a whole new level of bleakness and emptiness of character. Almost shocking lack of Plato's Goodness in them. These are two of the most devious, shocking, and brilliant creations in literature. Read it and shiver. If you liked the movie, READ THE BOOK!!!! These people are scarier than any Stephen King monster creation could ever be, because they are real people,..... or maybe they aren't....

Summary: Marie Antoinette was not wrong...
Review: The luckless Queen of France kept a copy of this book, albeit that she had to put a 'false' cover on it for fear of ridicule - one would have thought that she would have been immune. And no wonder that she risked doing this, as this novel is nothing short of extraordinary! It contains every element of the best soap opera - love, hate, betrayal, murder, illicit sex, and every other vice that one associates with that decadent French era. Ah, to be a time traveller and meet these fully fashioned 3-dimensional characters. So go ahead and stamp your passport for a trip into the past, and read a book that is as deep and rich as a 4 layer chocolate cake. You won't gain an ounce, but you will be dizzy from the passion! Bon Voyage and Bon Appetite!

Summary: Excellent Writing Style
Review: The writing style which Laclos employed in writing this book is unlike any other book I have read and provides an interesting break in the usual style of which other authors write. I enjoyed the story-line he created and varied personalities he gave to his characters. Overall, it is a book that is very worth-while and gutsy. I would recommend this book, although, to people that have a broad view and can handle suggestive material--a "pg-13" book.

Summary: This was an excellent book and I shall read it again!
Review: This book was fantastic. It contains all the neccesary pieces. Lust, intrigue, sexuality, and the most important..Drama. I am an actor and a writer so I know a good plot when I see one. This book isn't if I shall say for all ages, but young adults to the maximum can enjoy this book. It's suspensful. You never know whats gonna happen until it does, and then......BANG!! It hits you. So take the time to read this amazing novel, and you'll fall in love with the power it gives you. Just by holding it in your hands.

Summary: great book
Review: This book was just great. I listened a short review in television and it made me curious. So I started it and I found it marvellous. The plot was very exciting and you never expect what's gonna happen next. All the characters are really cold, strange and ambiguous. The use of letters is very usefull to explain all the points of view of the characters and to enter easly in their life and in their thoughts. The author has been really good to create the atmosphere and the suspance. I think that if you liked the movie you'll love the book even more.

Summary: Fascinating and sinful
Review: This book was quite entertaining. I enjoy the rich and detalied portrayal of deciet and heartless emotions. I would reccomend it to almost anyone. The movie is also very wonderful.

Summary: A Cynical View of Sex
Review: This is one of the most cynical works on love and sex ever written. Actually, love and sex don't have anything to do with each other in this book. I don't think that the characters in this book even believe that love exists. So what does that mean? That the characters are all lighthearted libertines who enjoy free love with abandon? No, Valmont et al use sex like a weapon. What they really get off on is their own aggrandizement through the degradation of other people. It is shocking in its honesty and its unromantacized view of human sexuality. Highly recommended!
