Rating: Summary: Good approach to mental side of golf Review: Rotella's book shows the golfer how to mentally approach the game of golf. He gives examples on how to play better golf just by changing your thought pattern. It is fun to read but don't expect to shoot par by just using this book. For golf fitness, I recommend, "Fit for Golf"-it came out in 2004, it has good pictures on how to perform certain strength training machines. For learning how to actually shoot par, I definitely recommend: "The Ultimate Golf Instruction Guide: Key Techniques for Becoming a Zero Handicap Golfer or Better" by Patrick Leonardi
isbn 1933023090
Leonardi's book showed me with easy to follow instruction on how to play par golf. My golf shots now go straight to the middle of the green and I am now hitting more fairways then ever. Now when I play golf, I'm much more excited and motivated to keep practicing because now I see results.
Rating: Summary: Required Reading: Golf is a Mental Game Review: Seriously, this sport is 95% mental, 5% physical. Dr. Rotella supplies the reader with countless tips to give one the power to overcome the "demons" inside all of us on the golf course. If you knees begin to shake over the three-footers, or see OB to the left (or right) as a ball-magnet, consider this book - it's one of the few truly helpful books on the mental side of golf.
Rating: Summary: Golfers, go to the top of this page and buy this book now! Review: Simply put, this book is incredible. I am a 16 year old addict, who was last year, the worst player on the school team. I had taken lessons from pros, watched instructional videos, and attended numerous golf camps. At the beginning of the this year's season, I was considering quitting, when I picked up this little treasure. Bob Rotella's book has completely changed my attitude about this wonderful game. It taught me to forget about what other people thought about my game and remember how to have fun. Due to the weather this year, our golf season was only two weeks long. It took me one week to make junior varsity, and I give half of the credit to this book, and half of the credit to me for reading it. By utilizing the mental techniques found in "Golf Is Not A Game Of Perfect," I was smashing my previous scoring records and setting new ones almost every round! I was shooting in the mid-70's (9 holes) last year, and now I consistently score in the low 40's! This fantastic book is the real deal!
Rating: Summary: Super book, although it screwed up my putting completely Review: Target Golf is what this one is all about and it works wonders. Always have a target and always think target, ball, contact. Dr. Bob advocates a pure-feel approach to putting which when I tried it messed up my putting something awful. But that's just me. That's the only reason it doesn't get 5 stars from me.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Unbelievable!! Review: The assistant pro at the course I work at got me hooked on Bob Rotella!! I started reading "Golf Is Not A Game Of Perfect", I could not put it down. I would start a chapter and just keep on going like the Energizer Bunny!! Anyone who is serious about improving their all-around game MUST get this book. Thanks Dr. Bob, your a lifesaver!!!
Rating: Summary: Playing Golf in the Zone Review: The most enjoyable golf you can play is effortless and pressure free. "Doc" Rotella's "Golf Is Not a Game of Perfect" has literally liberated me from myself. I was definitely in my own way, halting my own progress. My swing coach brought me from a 35 handicap to a 16 handicap in two summers. Doc brought me down to a 10 handicap in six weeks, and I am still improving. Two key facets in the book grabbed me. First is, "The best swing thought is no swing thought!" This was riveting and when I finally let go and trust my swing, the ball went longer and straighter. Consistency and lower scores were the result. The second facet dealt with putting. Doc emphasized "When you land the green, hole the put, no matter the distance!" What a confidence and result booster!! My goal was to become a single digit handicapper by the end of summer 2001. I still have three weeks to lose one stroke and achieve my goal. I am convinced it will happen. On June 26th, I had a milestone. After reading Doc's book, I shot my first ever and only sub-par round of 35 for nine holes on a par 36 executive course here in Indianapolis. I had a playing partner and asked him to sign the card. It is now framed and sitting in my office. That was fun. Thanks Doc!! -Gary in Indianapolis.

Rating: Summary: mental euphoria Review: This book (audio version) has been the missing link for my game that no golf teacher/school could provide. It plays over and over again in my car and when I play golf now, it feels as if a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders! Dr. Rotella has definitely taken my game to the next level!! Wonder no more if this is worth it....quit reading and buy it!!
Rating: Summary: Best investment a golfer can make! Review: This book dropped my handicap 7 strokes in 4 months. It is like this author met you personally and has studied your game. This book concentrates on the mental aspects of the game. It is awesome, light reading, and full of stories of the pros in situations like all of us typical amateurs.
Rating: Summary: Really makes you think before you go to the course Review: This book isn't so much about the right swing or the right gear it's about your mind state and letting go.I got this book for my boyfriend who has competed for years. He read it 3 times in 3 weeks and just couldn't put it down. You should get one for the golfer in your life.
