Rating: Summary: A MUST READ for any golfer Review: Read HOW I PLAY GOLF by Tiger Woods with the editors of GOLF DIGEST . . . actually, make that I also looked at this book . . . it has hundreds of magnificent photos, many of them from his winning tournaments . . . I very much liked it--even though I no longer play the game . . . it was fascinating to hear what Woods has to say with respect to how he hits various shots . . . in addition, I liked his recollections of how he learned the game from his dad and how he competes today against the best players on courses from around the world. One chapter ("How to Master the Mind"), in particular, caught my attention because it applies to virtually any situation in life . . . he presents the following building blocks to mental toughness: Learn from your experiences, both positive and negative. Take ownership of your mistakes. Never make the same mistake twice. Don't be afraid to turn a negative into a positive. Never beat yourself up because there are plenty of people who will do it for you. But in the book he does more than just list the above; he gives specific examples from his own career. And I'm still laughing at his top 5 mind games: 1. Really lean on a drive, then react as if you miss-hit it. 2. On your way to a drive that you've nutted, take a quick look at your opponent's ball as you walk by, hesitate for a moment as if you think it's yours, then proceed to your drive. 3. Concede two or three short puts, then make your opponent putt a kick-in. 4. Make your opponent putt several gimmes, then concede a questionable two-footer. 5. After you've outdriven an opponent on a day marred by swirling winds, take a club you have no intention of hitting on your apporach shot and make a few practice swings. If he's stealing your club selection, you might get him to guess wrong. All in all, this is the PERFECT GIFT for any golfer that you might know! And don't forget to get a copy for yourself, too, if you play the game.
Rating: Summary: A Great Book! Review: Tiger's "how to" book on golf is a resourceful, easy to understand and inspiring tool for improving and appreciating the game of golf. There are many books, tapes, gadgets and gizmos out on the market that claim if used, you too can have a golf game like Tiger Woods. Some may work but many don't deliver. How can you go wrong with a book written by the man himself? Tiger has done an excellent job in articulating and sharing his passion for the game of golf. In reading Tiger's book I was reminded of another book called "WORKING ON YOURSELF DOESN'T WORK" written by Ariel and Shya Kane. Just as Tiger's book is a tool for playing your best golf game, the Kane's book is a tool for living an awesome, wonderful life. I highly recommend both of these books.
Rating: Summary: Great Book for All Golfers Review: This book really gives me lot of ideas how to improve my skills, from tee off to putting! Clear illustrations with photos from Woods can let me understand most common faults and get rid of them. I recommended this book to my 3 of my friends. They all love it and keep it for 1st reference.
Rating: Summary: Sentimental value for Woods's fan Review: This book's title ("how I play Golf") sums up precisely what the book is all about. It is about Woods' approach to golf. For his fans, like I am, would love it. I am always fascinated in how great sportman thinks on and off the field, and Woods is defintely in that "great" category. In that regards, this book is fine (if it comes with Wood's signature, it would be an collector item!) However, if anybody take the book as an instructional book, may find some disappointments. For that, I feel that David Leadbetter's instructional's books or videos are better bet.

Rating: Summary: Tiger Woods "How I play GOlf?" Read Golf Digest! Review: I was eagerly awaiting the release of Tigers new book .. finally ..Tiger in his own words would breakdown the golf swing! I don't know about anyone else but I was expecting a helluva lot more .. where were the detailed descriptions? I found too little to be useful ! What I did find was a rehash of "old" Golf Digest articles .. All supposedly authored by Tiger himself? This book didn"t even try to rewrite or update these articles .. they even used the same photographs !!! Now for those of you that think that Tiger Woods is a golf god .. my words will be unkindly viewed, that however does not diminish my observation that Tiger had an opportunity to write the next " 5 Lessons" and fell far short of the goal.
Rating: Summary: How I Play Golf (cassette) Review: This book has loads of information but what it really has is passion! With Tiger's intuitive explanations for when and how he hits the shot, he brings the swing to a "celestial" level. He incorporates all the senses. Tiger's take is both refreshing, entertaining, and passionate. And, after all, isn't that why we all play golf! This is a great chance to "feel" the shot with Tiger. Try this cassette in your car for an adrenaline rush before the big game!
Rating: Summary: Nothing new Review: Tiger Woods is a great player there is no doubt. His book is a great addition to the golf instruction world. I didn't buy the book but I did read through it at the bookstore and I realized that much of what Tiger has to say is all based on the fundamentals. Nothing new. What most amateurs fail to realize is that Tiger Woods has worked his butt off mastering the fundamentals. All great athletes do that. Many weekend hackers will never break 100 because they fail to practice and master the fundamentals. Tiger Woods is known for his long game but it isn't a mistake that he starts off with putting. The short game should make up about 60% of a person't practice. I see so many people hitting hundreds of balls with their driver trying to hit the ball harder and longer but never work on their short game. My favorite player is Colin Montgomerie. I think he has the greatest swing in golf and is much more consistent than Tiger Woods. Let's also not forget Ben Hogan.
Rating: Summary: A must buy book for golfers Review: If you like Tiger Woods, buy it. No exception. I read his book and then went to the driving range. It works; I know why I hit straight, hook, or slice. I may not become a better player but I know how I can do that. This is my sincere review. It worths your money.
Rating: Summary: WOW!!!!! A masterpiece of a book Review: I have been a fan of Tiger now for many years. Truthfully he is the person who got me interested in the game, I have been golfing since May of 2001. I have become completely amazed by the game of golf now, and am always thinking about it. My girlfriend bought me this book to go along with my golf library. My first reaction to the book was WOW. I read the sections on putting and chipping so far and have skimmed the entire book. My first game after reading these sections was a ton better. I had read what Tiger was saying about grip and hand movement. I practiced it for only an hour one day on the green at a local country club. The next day I had the best short game of my life, on the course. I was visualzing and understanding what I needed to do. I have been taking lessons also now for about 2 months. Nothing can help your game more than practice itself. But once you have the right mind set and can see what you are supposed to do the game becomes much much eaiser. The pictures and writing in this book are excellent. I would recommend it to any golfer at any skill level.
