Review: Bridget's Diary was certainly entertaining. It had me laughing out loud in several scenes, and I enjoyed its parallels to Pride and Prejudice. Definitly worth your time if you are looking for something fun to read. Any woman can relate to at least some part of Bridget's life.

Review: Yep, just like a few of the other reviewers here, I got into BJ's Diary, and recognized that it is just Pride and Prejudice '99-2000. It's a cute book, and I do recommend it, but I don't think this book is all it's cracked-up to be. I didn't laugh quite as much as others apparently...but I did find myself cheering for Bridget by the end. As far as relatable? Loved Bridget's friends...her wacky mother running off and returning without any remorse was a bit much for me. I don't know. Do a lot of mothers do that these days?

Review: Enjoyed this novel immensely until I realized the similarities with Pride and Prejudice. We have a Mr. Darcy, after all, a Mr. Wickham in the form of Daniel Cheever, Bridget's boss, and even a willful Lydia, Bridget's mother as she scurries off to Portugal with Julio. Fielding dresses up this classic story in a modern garb, which is thorougly entertaining....but I enjoyed the original more.

Summary: Is this real life or what?
Review: I absolutely loved this book. Sure, Bridget is neurotic, and some people will tag her as a bit flighty, but that's what makes her so amusing. I can't tell you how many times I thought, "I do that too!" when reading this book (i.e. when hungover Bridget lies in bed, refusing to move her head, and suddenly the thought, "Ooh, I could really fancy some chips" pops into her head). It shows how many women want to be raging feminists but deep down go to war with their inner selves who just want to get married.

Review: This book is so funny! I'm only 15 (heard of book from my YOUNG basketball coach...who so relates to all of this!) and it is so like, "DUDE! That happens to me/friends!" Anyway, the book rules, and is hilarious... new favorite author!

Review: I got this book as a gift. I laughed out loud reading it. Bridget is scattered, but so real life. She writes all those neurotic things we all think! I really could identify with her. I ran out to buy the sequel and loved it even more!

Review: I recently read this "book" for my book club (out of 6, only 2 enjoyed it). Not only is the diary style somewhat annoying, so is Bridget! She is a totally unsympathetic character, and her constant snivelling made this a very unenjoyable read. I thought I'd always find something redeemable about a novel, but sorry, not here.

Review: Even though this book reflects the way some women think and feel about themselves, I did not find it either interesting or funny (and I consider myself as having a sense of humor). However, after reading the comments of other readers, I guess that I must be in a minority regarding literary tastes...

Review: Having been married at the age of 19 and married for 24 years, I thought this book might not be as fun a read as for a singleton, BUT IT IS! While many women have the insecurities and concerns that are expressed in this book (there is probably a bit of Bridget Jones in every woman) to read them in this format was laugh-out-loud funny. This was a very enjoyable book, it leaves you smiling.
