Review: Although there were funny moments, all in all the book severely disappoints. Bridget is certainly neither a feminist nor particularly appealing. Many of the characters, including Bridget's extraordinarily obnoxious mother, are completely flat and unbelievable. Not to mention the fact that the conclusion is too ridiculous for words. If you must read it, borrow a copy - you'll be happy to have not wasted the $13.

Review: This book certainly had some funny parts, especially a pretentious cocktail party. But if you've ever read a "Cathy" comic strip, you've already read this book. Bridget indulges in constant insecure obsessing over weight, men, cigarettes, men, her job, men, her looks, and men. Tiresome, repetetive, and stereotypical -- in spite of entertaining moments, this book didn't end a moment too soon.

Review: I am very surprised that so many people loved this book. I found Bridget very pathetic and shallow. She is obsessed with counting cigarettes, alcoholic drinks, and calories every day?! Do people actually do this??? I had a very difficult time relating to her and it is rather disappointing that so many women could relate. On a positive note, there were some funny parts and it is easy summer reading.

Review: This book is hysterical. I couldn't put this book down and re-read it all the time. Many of us can see parts of ourselves in Bridget which makes our own lives seem less overwhelming. After reading Bridget Jones's Diary, I found humor in black opaque tights and consolation about a doomed office romance.

Review: What an amusing book! Even those who haven't read _Pride and Prejudice_ or _Tom Jones_ can appreciate the ridiculous situations and chasms of self-doubt that Bridget jumps into. But, oh my! For those of us who have read those old standy-bys, this book is delicious. Of course, Miss Elizabeth Bennett handles herself with more aplomb than Bridget, but the outcome is a given; it's the working out of the details that kept me entralled. Hurrah! a most enjoyable read!

Review: The first page had me laughing out loud, a telling beginning of a hysterically funny novel. The narrator's sarcasm, her witty pop culture awareness, and her all too human hypocracy were all too real. What I enjoyed greatly about the book was the relationship among Bridget Jones's friends and her candor in the diary about how she felt about them and her place among them. It was bitingly perceptive and real. A great read, just too short!

Review: I hope not too many people can identify with Bridget; she makes awful decisions regarding herself and men, has no self control and basically is not in charge of her life. Easy read but had difficulty identifying with the characters.

Review: No, it isn't going to change anyone's life but if you are just interested in a great read, an amusing story and an interesting character (that most of the female population can probably relate to at some point), then please read this book. Its funny enough that my fellow-travelers on airplanes were beginning to wonder about me due to my stiffled outburts of laughter.
