Summary: I think The Lord of the Flies was mostly boring.
Review: The most interesting parts in the book were when the boys saw the parachutist on top of the mountain and thought he was a monster. The other most interesting part was when Simon was 'talking' to the Lord of the Flies. I think the ending would have been more exciting if Jack or Ralph had been killed.

Summary: Lord of the Flies is about the animalistic side of everyone
Review: This is not a book that is for somebody who plans on being a dedicated reader. It is not a book that is easily accessable. It was hard to understand the symbolism and hidden features. It was hard to grasp some of the themes. However the message in the book is and important one to learn. It shows us that no matter how young, or old you may be you still have that seed of evil hidden inside of you.

Review: I think that the Lord of the Flies was a pretty good book. It had a boring begining but the ending was full of action and conflict that kept you glued to the pages. The characters were pretty realistic and related to the people of today.

Review: Everyone who has insulted this book, is a completely unintelligent person. I mean, the way Golding describes the island, and the way that the boys strive to survive is the way any group of 13 year old boys put in that situation would react. This is a great book until the end.

Summary: Takes a while
Review: I read this book for 10th grade summer reading, and I never encountered a book I hated before this. Golding seemed to have no idea what he was talking about either let us know by describing objects as "stuff" or by losing us in run-on descriptions. But after discussing this book and rereading it for my test tomorrow, I've realized the full potential of this book. I didn't know a short book could take so long to read, but read it, then go and analyze it. You'll end up loving it!

Review: "Lord of the Flies" is one of the BEST books I've ever read. It is an excellent book to read. It is completely pyschological and I found it breath-taking. I almost cried in the end. It is the best book I have ever read in an English class and I think William Golding is an EXCELLENT author. I would encourage every 14-year-old to read it too.

Review: Lord of the Flies is truly one of the masterpieces of literature. The stark symbolism is chilling and unparalled. One caution though, do not read this novel if you do not appreciate or understand symbolism. THIS NOVEL CAN NOT BE READ AT SURFACE LEVEL! This book is not to be read by young students who have not had exposure to interpreting plot lines and symbolism. After completing the novel I was spellbound and thought about nothing else but its chilling implications. It is one of the most provacative novels in existence. By examining the inherent evil in all mankind the reader is lead on a search and realizes that the sought after beast is embodied in each individual. You will never look at human nature the same way after reading this novel.
