  Summary: Where the Heart is....[...]
Review: Personally, Being a 12 year old book reader loved it. I saw the movie, but reading it somehow brought it out more. I love the movie and the book. Billie Letts really knows how to write. He explained everything in perfect detail and I enjoyed every detail greatly. Billie explained the detail so perfectly, I thought I was there, Everytime Lexie was cheated on, everytime Fornie was cuddling Americuz, and especially everytime Novalee was photographing. I greatly enjoyed this book and have already begun my persuit in looking for any other Billie letts books.

Review: I so much enjoyed this book. It is the first book I have read of Billie Letts. And I will be looking forward to her next novel. I got so involved in Where the heart is.. As I live in Bentonville, home of Sam Walton. And I founnd it so intriguing, and was sorry that it ended as soon as it did.. Will there be another story line for Novalee? I do hope so. Again, thank you for a wonderful story! Sincerely, Lisa Frame

  Summary: a happy surprise
Review: I'm not much of a fan of Oprah, and never wanted to read any of her book club picks. But when the movie for "where the heart is" came out, I decided that I wanted to read it before seeing the movie. There were so many great actresses that a part of me thought that it had to be a good story line. I finished the book in 3 days, unable to put it down. It was such a great novel. The characters were unforgettable, and you can't help but feel for Novalee, who has to grow up fast and learns about love and loss. Read it, you won't regret it, it's a great book. It makes me want to read other books that Oprah has picked.

  Summary: Where the Heart Is
Review: I bought this book intending to take it on a trip with me, but stayed up the whole night before reading it all! Just couldn't put it down. All of the characters are so well developed and likeable. Even though the story had a disappointing ending, and perhaps wrapped things up a little too easily, it was still worth the read. I didn't get a chance to see the movie when it was out, but I think the book is kind of in the vein of Fried Green Tomatoes, and Steel Magnolias. It's sappy, and sad, but you'll feel good. :)

  Summary: Couldn't put it down.
Review: I was on a marathon of Agatha Christie books when I turned to Billy Letts. I had wanted to see the movie, so when I saw it in the bookstore I bought (not even realizing it was an Oprah book club selection). The book captured my interest from page one. It was a nice change of pace from Christie and I just never wanted to put it down. While a stream of bad luck follows Novalee (sometime a bit unrealistic) she nevertheless pulls through it and makes a success of her life. I didn't really care for the ending...I expected more...or maybe I just didn't want it to be over.

Summary: A Fun Read, But Ultimately Disappointing
Review: The story is interesting but would have benefited from more detailed characterization. Everyone in this town is quaintly eccentric and spouts profound down-home wisdom at the slightest provocation. There's nothing wrong with that, but I would have liked to have seen more real-life conflict between the characters; they were all so darned perfect and saintly, especially the main character.
In the end it was like eating a bag of candy - enjoyable while it lasted but ultimately I was gagging on the unrelenting sweetness.
