Review: I have only been a first grade teacher for two years now, and am just starting to build up my own children's literature collection. House is a House for Me is without a question one of my favorites. The children loved it so much when I read this book of rhyme, not a peep was made on the rug. When I was finished reading the book, the children wanted to create their own class version entitled House is a House for Me 2! If you are a teacher or a parent, this is a small investment, but one that you and your children will treasure for years to come.

Review: I read A House is a House for me by Mary Ann Hoberman. The book has a lot of homes in it. Home of animals and other kinds too. I only liked the pictures and the ryhming parts. It was not so exciting. I think little kids would like it.

Review: I read this book to my daughter fifty times or more. It is a wonderful piece of poetry to recite; rhythmic and fun. The pictures are very detailed, with lots for a child to discover and ask questions about. Every page has an intricate drawing with many different recognizable details. I found it to be a good jumping off point for many varied discussions when my daughter was a tot. I send it to my friends who are having their first baby....

Summary: On every child's "must have" list!
Review: I used to have this book when I was a child (I actually STILL have it - albeit slightly worn and well loved). This book is absolutely wonderful!

I am now in my thirties and in the field of Developmental Psychology and personally highly recommend this book for any child! I'm sure that they will love it, and cherish it, as much as I have!

Summary: One book parents and kids love to read over and over.
Review: I've had this book since my 13 yr old was a toddler. I need to buy another copy because ours was so well loved. This is such a great read-aloud book. I also gave this book to my sister when her children were small. Its one of the few that she has kept even though her children have outgrown the book.

Summary: A word of caution
Review: Many people praise this book for its depiction of a variety of houses. I want to share a concern about the Native American houses shown and hope parents and teachers will point it out to their children. The indiginous people of Alaska prefer to be called Inuit or Inupiat, not Eskimos. There is no such tribe as "Mohee;" research indicates "Mohee" appeared in a folksong popularized by Burl Ives in the 50s.

Review: My kids love this book. The rhyme and illustrations are splendid. They never tire of this one and neither do I. Highly recommended.

Summary: This is one of the best children's books my kids have had
Review: My oldest child is now almost 15 and I have had this book on hand for the last 12 years. I also have 2 other children. All 3 of my children have loved this book. I have read it over and over and over again over the last 12 years. The children especially liked creating their own house is a house situations. The kids would go on and on and on for ages. I have held onto this book and read to my nieces and nephew over the years. Hopefully the book will last until I have grandchildren to read it to. I myself have thoroughly enjoyed the book time and time again.
