Summary: I learned a lot about taxes and I was already tax savvy
Review: I had been for many years an aggressive tax preparer and felt that I know just about everything there was to know about taxes. Givens books Financial Self Defense and More Wealth Without Risk taught me many strategies that I wasn't aware of.Also recommend SuperSelf, a super personal development book by Givens and Money Mastery another great book on reducing taxes...legally.

Summary: I FEEL FINANCIALLY BULLET PROOF! SAVED OVER $16,000!
Review: I saved more than $16,000 in my first three months after following the "GIVENS STRATEGIES" as outlined in FINANCIAL SELF DEFENSE. Over 1/4 of that was just on car buying. I also learned how to "debt shift" high interest credit cards to lower interest cards and buy and a new home without credit reference and no cash down, straighten out my credit report and get the maximum from my IRA. If you want to make the most of your money, buy this book, read it and then apply everything. It really works!

Summary: Great companion to More Wealth Without Risk
Review: If you have already read More Wealth Without Risk, you probably think you have all of Mr. Givens best strategies. Not so. Financial Self Defense is even better and offers more strategies to reach your financial dreams. In Financial Self Defense, Givens goes right after banks, brokers, auto salesmen and even the IRS, exposing the schemes and scams perpetrated by these people. My son was going to buy a car. I loaned him Financial Self Defense and he saved over $6,000 with the advice. A $14 book saved $6,000. Now that's not bad! Most of us are wasting an easy $1,000 per month in financial mistakes. Givens shows you how to plug up the dike and use that money to invest or improve your lifestyle. More Wealth Without Risk is excellent and Financial Self Defense is in many ways even better. Read both and prosper.

Summary: I was suckered into Charles J. Givens "GET RICH QUICK" B.S.
Review: In 1985 after attending a Charles J. Givens financial seminar, I along with 3 other people, bought a house using Givens techniques presented at the seminar, which are essentially a summary of what is in his books. We ended up losing several thousand dollars each. Education is expensive. Stay away from get rich quick schemes. Ask yourself, "If this is such a great idea, why on God's Green Earth is this person NOT actually practicing these techniques instead of writing a book, or giving seminars about it. Answer is, because they can make more money, easier selling the books/seminars than they can actually doing what they preach.

Review: In 1989, I attended a Givens 'FINANCIAL CLINIC" in Altamonte Springs, Fl. I bought WEALTH W/O RISK,and soon after, FNANCIAL SELF-DEFENSEand then MORE WEALTH WITHOUT RISK. With FINANCIAL SELF DEFENSE, I wasable to reduce the cost of a vehicleby more than $3000! Get money out of a(w) hole life insurance policy, get arefund on social security taxes, reduce my auto insurance by an additional 20% after already using other famous GIVENS STRATEGIES, debtshift credit interest, obtain credit cards and credit (bank loans) afterprevious denials, restruture my IRA,set up a self-directed annunity------using my social security refund, getto a zero tax bracket, made an offerand was accepted for the home of my dreams, made offers and was acceptedfor three no-money-down residentialreal estate properties, went from anegative personal cash flow to positive cash flow, starting puttingaway 20% of my gross income into my401 (K) plan (previously it was 0),paid off all debts left from a divorce, cleaned up my credit reportand was approved for new loans in lessthan six months (a lawyer told me itwould take 4-7 yrs to do this) and most importantly found a new level ofconfidence/personal power. If you haveever been at the bottom financially, you know how powerless you feel, thesestrategies give that power back. Review: In 1992 I was devastated with a a divorce, loss of my job and loss of a loved one. I was emotionally and financially "blown away". A friend loaned me a book that she said would help me financially. It was "More Wealth without Risk" (see my testimonial in More Wealth Without Risk reviews). I made a immediate financial turnaround. Sold on Mr Givens strategies, I went out and bought 'Financial Self-DeFense" and saved an immediate $4,500 BY CANCELLING A CASH VALUE LIFE INSURANCE POLICY. I bought a term, non cash value policy saving over $800 per year in premiums with triple the protection that I had before. Without the techniques explained in Financial Self Defense, I couldn't have done this. My insurance company was fighting me the whole way and didn't want to let go of the money. I also cancelled the charge guard on my credit cards, credit life on a a bank loan and extended warranty on my vehicle as well as credit life again. Was ! ! I a sucker or what? This amounted to an additional $734 in cash which I needed desperately at the time. I also opened a Money Market Mutual Fund and started using this for all my checkwriting and earning 8% instead of the 3% that my bank was offering. Summary: If you think education is expensive, try ignorance
Review: My wife and I attended a Givens seminar in Altamonte Springs, FL in July 1989 and immediately became members. We had just moved to FLORIDA and our savings was spent. We also bought his first book Wealth without Risk. We got instant results; replacing our savings and traveling costs; we went from renters to owners, started a IRA and 401 (k) plan and invested in mutuals. Financial Self Defense showed us how to stop getting ripped off and we did save more than $5,000 on a car purchase by using the techniques Givens suggests Nowhere does Givens teach "get rich quick" schemes. In fact, one of his favorite comments is 'you can't get rich quick, but you can get richer, quicker!" I am giving Financial Self Defense as a accessory gift at weddings I feel that this information is that vital! Buy the book and use the techniques. THEY WORK!
