Summary: Devoted Fan a Little Let Down
Review: I'm extremely picky about romance novels and only read a handful of authors. Jude Deveraux has always been my favorite, but something has gone wrong in her last few novels. The Blessing continues the trend of developing the story, bringing it to its peak, and then wrapping it up with a "happily ever after" in the last three pages. Even though I still think she's a strong writer, those wonderful memorable moments that leave you day dreaming don't happen after finishing this book. The feeling of "that's it?" does.

Summary: Will the real Jude Devereaux please return?!?!?!?
Review: This story was so sappy it made my teeth hurt! I wish the author who excited and charmed in stories like "A Knight in Shining Armor" would return. Has she been kidnapped by aliens? This plot would lead one to believe so. Totally unbelievable. The usual gullible helplass girl meets rich man who saves her. She's really even too stupid to notice. Oh, and of course it's every day that your Wall Street wonder would just breeze in and start changing diapers and loving your son. That's totally believable! This was the worst story line I've read in quite some time. The only reason I finished the book was to get a laugh and groan out of the characters and their dialogue. Don't waste your money or time.

Summary: It's a little better, but still not the Jude Deveraux I love
Review: I agree totally with "reader from Westborough, MA USA , November 20, 1998". Sweet Liar was sooo good. I really really miss her old books' style. It's a good light reading, but didn't make much impression on me.

Summary: wait for the paperback
Review: I have been a Deveraux fan for a long time. This book is not one of her best. It is a light read and worth reading after you've finished those other books you've been anxiously waiting to read. Maybe Ms. Deveraux needs to take a break so she can revitalize her writing. Her last couple of books have been an unfortunate disappointment. I will not be purchasing another hardcover Deveraux for some time.

Summary: Better than her last few novels
Review: I bought this book expecting not to like it. I feel she hasn't written a a decent novel since Sweet Liar. The story, well, it isn't Jude's best. In a good Jude Deveraux novel, you know that she had as much fun writing it as we readers do reading it. The Blessing had a glimmer of the old Jude Deveraux fun. For that it is worth the read.

Summary: A good read
Review: This was not one of her best, but it was a light reading for a rainy weekend. Time well spent.

Summary: While good reading, definitely not Ms. Devereaux's best.
Review: Ms. Devereaux provides us with her usual witty and likeable characters, but doesn't give us the opportunity to become involved as deeply as she normally does. Her Velvet saga is a prime example of giving us a family that makes us anxiously await the next book. The story, however, was entertaining and easy reading.

Summary: Not worth the price
Review: When I read the synopsis of this story, I thought it sounded interesting, and the cover art looked good. Was I disappointed! The dialogue was simplistic, and the story ended up annoying me. Don't waste your money or your time on this book. (That saddens me as I usually love Ms. Deveraux's stories...)

Summary: Very Dissapointing!
Review: I love Ms. Deveraux writting, but in this one she must have been somewhere else in her mind when she was writting it. The story was very unrealistic and the characters were, well... BLAH! that the best way for me to describe them. There were some scenes that reminded me why some her other books did so well, but overall I did not like THIS book.

Summary: A nice Xmas gift
Review: New York-based multi-millionaire Jason Wilding does his younger brother a favor by returning home to Abernathy, Kentucky to stay in the home of Amy Thomkins' as an unofficial baby-sitter to the woman's child so his sibling can go out with her. Amy allows Jason to stay because she thinks he is gay and distraught over losing his lover.

However, Jason soon falls in love with Amy and her son, Max. He knows that his beloved is poor but proud so he secretly arranges to gives her and her baby gifts. When Amy realizes that Jason is not gay, they make love. However, Amy leaves him when she learns how wealthy he is because she feels he is trying to buy her. For the next year, an unhappy Jason hires private detectives to find her, but they fail to locate either Amy or Max, leaving the business mogul to wonder if he will ever find happiness again.

New York Times best selling author Jude Devereaux demonstrates why she is a household name among fans of romance and women's fiction with an enjoyable tale about two people transformed by love. In spite of the fact the novel is filled with numerous clichés found throughout the genre, readers will feel blessed to peruse a story line constructed around the metamorphosis of the characters due to love. Clearly, THE BLESSING is another best seller by one of the all time greats.
