Rating: Summary: One of the best books of all time!! Review: This book is very well written. I finished it two days ago and I am in Avalon-withdrawal. I miss Morgaine and Viviane. I felt like I knew them and I was actually there. This is one of my favorite books of all time!!!
Rating: Summary: Non-Sexist, Historically Accurate Arthurian Legends... Review: One of the best books I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Not only does it accurately portray the supposed "Arthurian Legends" and the colonization of Great Britain...but the women tell the story and aren't merely nuns or trophy wives. Kept me interested the whole way through...everyone i know who has read this book LOVES it, and now i know why!
Rating: Summary: A must read for any fan of Round Table Legends Review: With out a doubt this is one of the best books on the subject ever written. While certain aspects of the old ways may not be right on target, they are close enough to get a true feeling of what the local people felt as Christianity rolled over them. The battle between God & Goddess creates a fantastic backdrop to an otherwise well known story.
Rating: Summary: Mostly mean-spirited, dour read Review: If you like fiction laced with a vague, free-floating dislike or hatred of men (or "males"), and the portrayal of Christianity as an evil force that sapped all of the joy and magic out of the world and enslaved women forever, this is the book for you. It's even got incest as a major theme, to boot!
Rating: Summary: it was good but not great Review: Most of the characters were very three dimensional. The plot was never really played upon though, it was as if the author tried to fit in every detail of le morte d'arthur onto her thin plot, but it only left an undeveloped plot. I would have like to have seen it go further.
Rating: Summary: THE best "King Arthur" story EVER Review: This book feels so real, I would almost believe the author actually WAS there. It is the only telling of the "king Arthur" tale that has ever really made since to me. I would recommend this book to anyone who is either a fan of fantasy or history.
Rating: Summary: Amazing - mind altering Review: I was given this book many years ago and took a long time to get through it. As I grew older I gained more and more interest in it. Finally this year I decided to stop putting down the book for years at a time and finish it. It was amazing! It... I don't know how to explain it. A truely enjoyable read with so many plot twists and turns. The mystical aspects of it fullfilled something I had been looking for in many books and never found. A true pleasure to read :)
Rating: Summary: AN EXCELLENT RENDITION OF THE ARTHURIAN LEGEND Review: This is an beautifully written novel that tells the story of King Arthur from the women's point of view. I am in the process of reading it for the second time and I still seem to catch myself in a trance when I am reading it, despite the fact that I already know what is going to happen next. This is a novel with that will make you fall in love, and yet hate at the same time. The only one thing I can say is that Bradley did a wonderful job with this version of the Arthurian Legends. I would give it 6 stars if I could. This is a "must read"
Rating: Summary: Excellent book! Review: This book was so fascinating, I wanted everybody else to read it too. Marion Zimmer Bradley's version of the Arthurian legend is exquisite! I read it two times, and am starting for the third time. Once you start page 1, you won't stop until you read all 876 pages!
Rating: Summary: the book of my life Review: «The Mists Of Avalon» were the first of Marion's book that i read, but since then i've been trying to read them all, and, of course, i've already read the «Mists» twice. I became so involved in the whole story that i just didn't want it to end. I loved the characters, the scenaries, the rituals, the magic... And most of all, i loved the way it taught me how to look in a different way at such things as life, death, love and spirituality. Definitely, the book that changed my life!
