Rating: Summary: Zzzzz Review: Why shouldn't we compare it to "Red Tent?" Many people bought this book because they loved Diamante's first novel and many people felt let down. After reading both, I thought it seemed as if she spent five years writing "Red Tent" and three months on "Good Harbor." I found the female friendship trite, and the beginning of their relationhip reminded me of a cliche romance novel. I would really need to search hard to find something redeeming about this book. The descriptions of the places could be the strong point, but a book needs more. I wish "Kathleen" would have done something about the children's library. I wish either of these women would have done something constructive. I didn't care much about these characters, although I thought I would by reading the description of the book. This book was about as satisfying as a fat-free brownie.
