Rating: Summary: No Comparison to Flynn's Earlier Novels Review: I totally enjoyed Flynn's earlier novels. Couldn't put them down until finished. This book, however, was a huge disappointment. I found myself skimming pages to get through the plot. Rapp's character development has apparently been stunted, and Anna was nothing more than one-dimentional and completely annoying. The plot contained too much news and history intertwined with what little action was included. I'm still a Flynn fan; I just chalk this up to a need to fulfill a publishing contract since this novel does not resemble his earlier novels.
Rating: Summary: Saddened I didn't wait to borrow this book!!!!!!!! Review: I was so excited when Vince had a new book I loved the Rapp series however this one gave me the feeling it was a "have to write this book or else." I found the book way too wordy, Mitch getting married was a total bore--Anna needs to get kidnapped and never found again that would at least bring back our beloved Mitch to the character he was. Oh please with President Hayes he totally needs to lose the next election. I took this book to the beach and it was so out of place I pulled out the Carl Haaisen and saved my vacation!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: EXECUTIVE POWER and Vince Flynn rock! Review: I'm a fan of Tom Clancy and David Baldacci, and this was my first time reading a Vince Flynn novel. WOW! All I can say is that it was a thrill ride from start to finish, and I felt like I came away from it knowing a little more about world politics and terrorism than I did before. Plus it's a fun read -- Mitch Rapp is a CIA agent who kicks some serious butt, doing somethings a lot of us wish we could do. Talk about wish fulfillment! If you haven't read Flynn before, this is one to pick up. I enjoyed it more than the past few Clancy novels, I've got to admit. This writer is definitely one to watch.
Rating: Summary: Good airplane read - fast, held my interest Review: I've been anticipating Vince Flynn's latest book for months and couldn't wait to read it. While I enjoyed the book, I was frustrated with the two separate stories that didn't seem to have any relevance to each other beyond the character's involvement. It was almost like two short stories tied together with Mitch Rapp. In addition, both stories should have been prefaced with "Ripped from the headlines!", as they borrowed heavily from recent world events. As much as I love Vince Flynn's writing and the counter-terrorism storylines, I didn't feel this was his best book. I would recommend any of his first three books over this one in a heart beat.
Rating: Summary: Good on its own, not so hot by Flynn standards Review: I've read all four of Flynn's previous books, and although I liked this one overall, it's not on par with Flynn's outstanding work. Rapp has been virtually domesticated, his wife is a pain in the backside, and the presidential aide could have used a lot more comeuppance. Whether or not you've read Flynn's work before this is worth a read, but it'll be a bit disappointing to those who have read the previous Flynn masterpieces. If this is your first time reading Flynn, start with his first book (or at the very least, the second) - this one will be much more clear to you if you've got the others under your belt.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining Read Review: If you enjoyed the other Vince Flynn *Mitch Rapp* books, I think you'll enjoy reading this installment. A fast reading page turner, the book takes the reader all over the globe; from the Phillipines, to the Middle East, to New York, France and, of course, Washington D.C. as Mitch, his boss Irene Kennedy and likable Scott Coleman deal with international terrorism (in the form of a kidnapped American family and the Middle East situation). As with any good summer read, the story resolves itself very neatly in the end. Suspend belief and enjoy the ride.
Rating: Summary: More of the same. Review: It looks like Flynn has found a formula for his books and he's going to keep using it over and over. It's another book where Mitch Rapp seems to have all the right answers. It wouldn't be a Flynn novel if there wasn't a really annoying presidential aide. It it would be a Flynn novel if Rapp didn't verbally abuse them a few times. It seemed like two books. I liked the second one better, I guess. Big disappointment. Term Limits was a true original novel. What can't he do that again?
Rating: Summary: Pretty entertaining Review: It's a decent book, with plenty of plot and character links to Flynn's earlier books. I don't understand some of the other reviews, which pan the book for not being another "Term Limits", etc. Well, ALL authors have the same "problem". Did Crichton's later works measure up to "Jurassic Park"... Noooo. Were Benchley's later works as good as "Jaws"... Noooo. So, that said, if you're a Flynn fan you'll like this book... and the ending doesn't leave you hanging in need of a sequel.
Rating: Summary: Vince Flynn bests Tom Clancy, predicts future Review: Just as he did in Separation of Power with Uday Hussein and the war on Iraq, Vince Flynn once again predicts the future by telling the story of a terrorist from the House of Saud and then days later seeing the real thing happen in Saudi Arabia. Not only that, but as with most of Flynn's amazing books, this one is suspenseful, yet not dissapointing. Mixing both conservative and liberal views, this book does not have the same violent passion for violence that Clancy's do. Also, unlike Clancy, Flynn makes the technical aspects of the military tools sound fun and exciting. Vince Flynn is back!! Buy this book and you won't regret it.
Rating: Summary: today,s world Review: Mitch Rapp again takes us to the world of action based on today,s headlines. Through fiction he relates that religious fanatics from all religions only are interested in their beliefs and will destroy willingly all who stand in there way. Flynn shows us more of Rapp,s personality in this book with his reaction to his new bride,s inquisative mind and strong personality. A nice blend of action and information-possibilities and results. Well done!
