Rating: Summary: Hope For the Flowers is an excellent misunderstood allegory. Review: i personally loved trina paulus' book. i don't believe that it is about following your heart, or about what you feel is best for you, but about truth and real hope, absolutes. this is not a subjective truth, but the truth. and the "stuff that butterflies are made of" (p. 84) is found solely in Jesus Christ.
Rating: Summary: Straight to the heart ! Review: Hope for the flowers is that book that I remember when I need to think about a good reason for living. Beatifully related, how our lives can really be of significance if we look through the glasses of love. I would call it a GREAT PARABOLE.
Rating: Summary: I really did not understand it. Review: This book is mostly about two caterpillars that fell in love and were trying to climb up this thing to change into butterflies. But got halfway up and came back down.I really didn't like this book because I really didn't understand the message of the book.
Rating: Summary: Touching and thought provoking. Review: After reading this very beautiful little book you will look at life from an entirely different perspective. The rush to get to the top will also take on a new meaning. I have purchased several copies to give to friends who are going through the loss of a loved one, or who are going through difficult times. They have thoroughly enjoyed the book too!
Rating: Summary: A must for all who are involved with children! Review: This book is an excellent story to read to children! It is definitely a standard in all of my grandchildren's bookcases. This story even helped me, when I divorced, after 22 years, and was looking for a new direction. By expanding my exposure to those 'who are different', I met a wonderful man and remarried, which also exposes me to diverse cultures. As someone who's family is from the South, and who had narrow views of mixed relationships, I had always though that "not me" was a state of mind...luckily, I learned better!
Rating: Summary: A Lifetime Favorite Review: My parents have had "Hope for the Flowers" on their bookshelf for as long as I can remember, and I have always loved reading it (and having it read to me). I found my own copy a few years ago at a garage sale and treasure it. I read it to my son (now seven) a few times a year. We read a chapter each night before bed and both love the story and the pictures. Although I don't think my son catches the greater meaning, I love knowing that as he grows he will come to love the book not only because of the pictures and the miracle of the catepillars' transformation into a butterfly, but also because of the feeling of peace and hope it brings to the life of the reader.
Rating: Summary: DEEPLY INSPIRATIONAL Review: Hope for the flowers is a wonderful book that teaches us that we can dare to be different and succeed. This book, written in this beautiful style has a very positive and serious message. How reasuring to know that amidst the rat race ,we can remove ourselves and lead a simpler, kinder and gentler life. Thank you to the author for sharing this inspiring story with the world.
Rating: Summary: This is one of the most transformative books ever written!!! Review: What seems a simple children's story, with illustrations to match is, in fact, perhaps one of the most transformative journeys which exists in society today. I first read this book on the recomendation of a friend six years ago. It still resonates for me just as deeply as it did then. This tale is a life lesson about finding the courage to step beyond the boundaries of habbit, patern, and cultural pressures. It is about being tru to one's self and one's heart. Most importantly, it is about the incredible process that lies ahaead, and the heights that can be reached, when one gives up the illusion of being true to anything but the inner self. I have been giving this book as a present for six years and all the recipients have found it as worthwhile as I do. Do not pass up the chance to read this story!!!
Rating: Summary: Hope for the Flowers - a teaching aide and life changer Review: I found "Hope" while struggling to find material that my ESL students would find interesting. I was teaching, as a volunteer, in an inner-city Chicago school with great diversity and a poverty rate of 90%. When I read it then, its message was powerful. I have read the book with every child I have taught since my fateful discovery of the book in 1992. The book had such a great impact then, that I decided to risk giving up "the caterpillar pillar" for a shot at becoming a butterfly. The inspiration of the book and my one year of volunteering at this inner-city school, led me to abandon the search for a job in the "business world," and enter the world of teaching as a career. The book's message of following your heart has rung true for me and those with whom I've shared this book. It's a must read.
Rating: Summary: The Audio - A 25th Anniversary Celebration Review: Imagine, "Hope" the book, has passed the 2 million copy mark and is still going strong! I am so grateful for all the folks who have made this happen. Thanks especially for the incredible reviews I discover on this site when I visit. To celebrate our 25th Anniversary, Stripe, Yellow and I decided that an Audio version was the best thing we could offer our faithful friends and a new "Hope" generation. The new audio has exquisite musical illustrations which take the place of the drawings you can't see, and I read the story. On side two I tell how Hope came to be written. This is a first for me as narrator, producer and revealer of personal values in public. I hope folks will enjoy it. Inspired by Amazon, I am building my own site, hopefortheflowers.com, I want it to be an oasis of hope on the world wide web where we can learn together about positive happenings and things to do, like composting and permaculture. Visit as it grows. If you want the book as well as the tape, I suggest th
