Summary: Danielle Steel's Reality hits home.
Review: I neither post messages on message boards nor do I typically read Danielle Steel novels however, As I began reading the book I felt like it was a "fill in the blank with your own name" story. I had cold sheets of adrenalin hit me over and over as I read the pages because I felt like I was reading my own life story. I have only this year been able to begin my defeat of ADD, bipolar and manic depression and this book is to me what prozac was to Nick. It was a dose of good medicine and reality that showed me that I was not alone and that I'm not "crazy". Over the years I have mastered the art of concealing my disorder and due to this book, Danielle's open heart, and Nick's brave battle I have only now been able to publicly address my disorder without shame. The book is loaded with raw emotions, stoic reality, and compassion beyond imagination right down to the surprise "tacky clothes" ending. This book and Danielle's strength and commitment as a mother and as a voice for Bipolar will linger in my heart forever and will always be an inspiration for me to stay out of the 30 percent of sufferers that don't make it out of this tornado of hell alive. An incredible book which takes you on an incredible journey into the lives an incredible family...Thank You Danielle!!!

Summary: Outstanding by Tricia Marrapodi
Review: Danielle Steel conveys the true meaning of kindness, compassion, and the unconditional love a parent can give their child. This book is heartbreaking. I commend Ms. Steel for having the courage to share her story and hope that it will inspire families who are in the same situation. She is a remarkable women of great strength to share this story about her gifted and handsome young son, Nick.

Summary: NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING
Review: The book told a lot about Nick but not what I wanted hear, and after reading it I now think of Miss Princess Danielle Stell as selfish and very in love with herself. Yes in the Book she explains over and over again how much she loves Nick, but I do not beleive she means it. She sent him away all the time because he did not fit into her perfect life, and if you ask me I think she's the one that made him ill in the first place.

Summary: This book should teach an important lesson
Review: This book is a catharsis of the author's guilt for not being a good mother. If she had spent a fraction of the time with her son that she had spent with fictional characters, her son may still be alive today. This is a truly tragic story. Hopefully, other future parents will think twice before having children if their career goals are all-consuming. Let this book serve as proof that there is no substitute for a mother's love, time, and attention.

Summary: Manic-depression is a cold hell
Review: "His Bright Light: The Story of Nick Traina", is a frightingly real observation of someybody you love so dearly battling with manic-depression. Ms. Steel gave everything to help her son get over this most dreaded disease. I recommend this book to anybody who may think they know of somebody suffering from any form of depression.

Summary: This book made me laugh and cry and I highly recomend it!
Review: This was a VERY good book. It was, I would have to say, one of the best books I have ever read! I am only 16 years old and I was deeply moved by this book. I think that Nick Traina was a remarkable person and it is a shame that he had to leave this world as young as he was. I had to read a biography for school and I am really glad that I chose this book! I hope that you will take the time to read this story. It is very good and I can't say enough about it!

Summary: A New Respect for Danielle Steele
Review: I do not normally read Danielle Steele but this book was worth it. I have a new respect for her, not as an author, but more importantly, as a person and as a mother. She seems to truly have put her family first and especially her "wounded eagle". I read this book in 4 straight hours. I cried, laughed, and hurt for her and for Nick. She has used her fame and visiblilty for a very good cause. The fact that she is the author and that it is packaged similarly to her other books will grab some readers that otherwise would not read something like this. I do not spend my valuable reading time on romance from her, but I am glad I spent my time on this from her.

Summary: This was an engrossing and interesting read!
Review: What a terrific book! Not only is it the story of how Danielle Steel's son's bipolar disorder emerged and took him over, it is also the autobiography of the terrific author. It was extremely interesting to read about how her son, Nick's condition threw the family into virtual chaos for years, and to realize that she was still managing her hugely successful writing career at the time.
