Rating: Summary: The best Anne Rice book ever!!!! Review: I have read every Anne Rice book written, I love the vampires and the Mayfairs and find myself thinking about them, wondering what they are doing and when they will be back, BUT, this book set in the French Quarter is the best book I have ever written by Anne Rice or by anyone else for that matter! It just so happened that I went to New Orleans when I was about 100 pages into the book and found myself standing on the very streets she so vividly describes. I walked down Rue St. Anne looking for Marcell's home, I pictured the shops and streets as I finished this book and I strongly recommend reading it! If you love history, intrique and passion, this book is for you! I am only sorry that she has chosen not to write a sequel, but Showtime has bought the rights for a mini-series! Thank you once again Anne Rice for such a wonderful reminder of our past!
Rating: Summary: I loved it Review: I have read many of Anne Rice books, and this one works just as well. Although the description is overwhelming, and there aren't any of our favourite vampires, I still feel like I can empathise with all the characters, and find myself drawn into New Orleans in the 1700's.
Rating: Summary: One of her very best. Review: I have read nearly all of Anne Rice' works - the erotica, the vampire books, the Mayfair witch books, etc. - and this book is second only to Cry to Heaven. Just as in that vivid and lovely book, Rice has chosen a distinct period of history and an obscure group of people, and brought them to nearly palpable life. Years after reading this book, it's atmosphere and clearly drawn scenes linger in my memory. I had never known of the "gens de couleur libres" of New Orleans until this book. Rice has done an incredible job of bringing the time, place, and people to light. And the book brought such an engrossing human drama along with the knowledge, that it cannot be forgotten. Beautiful.
Rating: Summary: Anne Rice at her best Review: I knew nothing about the topic before I read the book. I bought "The Feast of all Saints" because I enjoy the author. I was expecting to be entertained for a few hours & I ended up also learning some interesting history & sociology facts. This is one of Rice's better researched & better written novels. I would highly recommend it.

Rating: Summary: Magical Review: I loved this book from cover to cover. I have always lived on the west coast and knew nothing of this world. The beauty, strengh and complete injustice of this story will move you. These characters are rich and believable. They will make you root for them.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down Review: I loved this book! The characters are so well developed, and the story is so intricate that this book just draws you in and doesn't let go. Her descriptions are amazing--New Orleans is practically a character of its own in this novel. Anne Rice is a brillant writer, and in The Feast of All Saints, she got it exactly right.
Rating: Summary: JUST AS GOOD AS THE VAMPIRE BOOKS!!!! Review: I picked up this book a month ago after I finished reading all of the vampire and witches books and I'm glad I did! As a history major, I love Anne Rice's books because they are acurate in their historical detail and I always feel like I've gone back in time. I love this book in particular because no one ever writes about that part of American history. I loved it and really recommend it!
Rating: Summary: A great novel Review: I read The Feast of All Saints shortly after discovering Anne Rice (about 4 years ago). It is one of the most well written novels as far as: 1. Pure writing. Reading this book, to me, was like reading prose. Her descriptions are clear and concise, her words are well chosen, and her characters are real. 2. Characters. Although I have not picked up this book for several years, I still feel as if I know the characters and their stories. 3. Originality. I enjoy all of her writing, but this creole story is not like others I've read by her or anyone else. I would recommend this anyone who appreciates historical literature (or just great literature). I don't want to see anyone miss out on this story just because her other books are not her style.
Rating: Summary: I Was Astonished To See Such Grace In Written Form. Review: I think Anne Rice is beyond brillant. I don't have an adjective to fully describe the beauty with which she creates. I am an African American woman with roots in Louisiana on my father's side. In the last year or so I have become very fascinated with La. or little L.A. as it is affectionately known. My dad is no longer here to answer questions. I had no idea about the free people of color that existed during that era. Ms Rice made one feel they were there in New Orleans, smelling the smells, indulging in the gumbo, touching the lace that surrounded Marie's clothes. Simply masterful. As "A Cry To Heaven" was equally riveting. That book has continued to haunt me for the last two years. I could almost close my eyes and believe I was in a palazzo. Grace and Peace Always to Anne Rice Cheryl Brown
