Review: As a HUGE Star Wars fan, I thought this book was great.Anyone who hates this book must be VERY strange.Aaron Allston is my fave author but I can`t seem to get hold of his new book X-WING:Book 7 Solo`s command. I give this great book FIVE OUT OF FIVE!!!
Rating: Summary: Undermining the greats? Review: This was a great book. The humor was rife and the plot realistily presented. If it wasn't realistic, then the book could not have made enough sense for anyone to keep reading it. Someone please note that Aaron Allston is not trying to undermine your favorite athuors (ie, Micheal Stackpole, Timothy Zahn). He is trying to write a book. He did write a book. People bought the book. Big deal.
Rating: Summary: Er... AWESOME Review: This book is sooo Awesome ... (AWESOME)..... The plot is there, the setting is there and characters are there .. (well, some of them die) Seriously, this is well worth it. BTW : He killed Ton Phanan... nooo !
Rating: Summary: Best book in the X-wing seires Review: This is one great book! Though the battle was a little unrealistic, c'omn one MonCal crusier against 2 SSDs and still wins? Also to many Wraiths got killed I also miss Kell and Tyria (I guess I'm just a hopless romantic)
Rating: Summary: Decent, yet lacking. Review: This is a good book, but needed more polish. The characters are their norm, but it was too slow. Characters such as Shalla Nelprin and Kell Tainer are well designed and way cool (hand-to-hand combat is wicked!), but certain characters seem a little vague. And finally, their was not enough action to carry the story. Hold on, what story? Allston needs to take a few pointers from Timothy Zahn, the Grand Master. Flying scenes were fairly good, but this book could have been so much more. And while I can relate to the Wraiths more than the Rogues, I prefer Pash, Corran, Gavin and especially Mirax; find me a girl like that and I'll be in heaven. In all, a good book, but only to die-hard fans.Knight Blade79
Rating: Summary: near the best... Review: OK, this is where I draw the line. If you want to comment on the author's writing style, and emotion, and the human-ness of his characters, do it here. But looking right into the technical facets of his book? Oh please, this is a criticism of the book, NOT a foray into a technical journal. So please, those two people arguing about the Mon Remonda having 48 turbolasers, etc... GET A LIFE! To continue, this book is wonderful. Laughter, and tears, heartaches, and cheers, they're all there. Who cares if there is no Luke Skywalker or if there is an adult Han Solo (hmm, oxymoron there)? I like the way Allston explored his characters. More could be done for the other characters of Kell, and Runt, etc, but hey, unless you want a Lord-of-the-Rings-length novel, it's really OK...
Rating: Summary: This book was horrid Review: I just hate this book it doesn't focus on me and my squad the ROGUES
Rating: Summary: It was really good Review: This was a great book I read it over,& over,& over ect
Rating: Summary: Best X-wing Book! Review: Iron Fist is my favorite book in the X-wing series. It hardly ever had a dull moment, though the final scene was kinda "out there". Wraith Squadron is so cool! Go buy this book!!! I can't wait for Isard's Revenge by Stackpole!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: One of the main reasons that the X-wing series is so popular is that it is populated by new characters. And no matter how much action and suspense there is, character is what makes a good story. Personally I enjoyed Face Loran in the lead role this time--Kell Tainer never really interested me. When there are over 20 books involving the main movie characters, you tend to get tired with them, and X-wing is the refreshing antidote to this boredom. As someone has pointed out, in Return of the Jedi, look how "simple" it was to take out the Executor; that was an ambush by the Empire. In Iron Fist, there are two Super Star Destroyers-- only one of them battle operational--but the New Republic has a plan this time; they are attacking the ships on purpose. If you read the strategy the former Rebels used to take on Zsinj in the finale, it makes sense that they were able to do what they did. One thing: when the Wraiths were disguised as stormtrooper MP's, they took out the two guards in front of the hangar and replaced them. Wouldn't the two guards have been shock stormtroopers, and not MP's? Perhaps they wiped the paint of the MP insignia off in a scene we didn't see. I have seen people speculate that Myn Donos will fall in love with Shalla Nelprin, but I think Lara Notsil is the more likely candidate. Look at the scene when he finds her in the corridor in Hawk-bat base, and when he accompanies her to Aldivy. Thank you for your time, and read the book if you haven't already done so.
