Rating: Summary: First Rate Review: Although my book was missing pages 385-417, it made up for it by duplicating 417-448 (twice). I hope I didn't miss too much but from what I read it was a great book, twists and turns, really seemed to get inside the workings of an actual investigation and trial. Must read more of his books.
Rating: Summary: key witness Review: ANOTHER EXCELLENT BOOK BY J F FREEDMAN..MAKES GRISHAM LOOK LIKE AN AMATEUR.
Rating: Summary: Jolly good read Review: Enjoyed it immensely.Characters were interesting although the relationship between Violet and Dwayne seems like too much of a coincidence. However the book moved along at a quick and interesting pace.Would love to see another Wyatt Matthews book soon.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyed each and every word Review: Freedman with his powerful storytelling skills knows very well how to keep his avid readers well fed, awake and interested every step of the way from beginning to end.
Rating: Summary: Another Winnner for Freedman! Review: Great plot and courtroom action.Only drawback is we don"t know what city the novel takes place in.But all in all ,WHO CARES! Looking forward for next book.
Rating: Summary: KEY WITNESS is Freedman at his best! Review: Having been a fan of Mr. Freedman's since AGAINST THE WIND, KEY WITNESS is one of his best yet.Wyatt Matthews has just finished winning his firm's most lucrative case. Everyone is ecstatic...except Wyatt. Seems he wants to try some public defending pro bono work for 6 months. The first case he gets is a simple attempted murder/burglary...or so it appears. Some jail informant has alleged that Wyatt's client confessed to being the ALLEY SLASHER, a serial killer that has the whole town scared. Freedman mixes in some incredible police work, plot twists you will not believe and characters that are shady yet compelling. Freedman shows he is one of the best at suspense courtroom dramas. A great book. I've read all of his and this one is the best!
Rating: Summary: Great Novel.... Review: Having read the first 4 Grisham novels, years ago, I wondered while reading "Key Witness," why J.F. Freedman doesn't have the fame that Grisham has. J.F. Freedman is significantly better at plot and character development, than Grisham. I truly couldn't turn my pages fast enough, as I read "Key Witness." And from the first page, I could envision, feel and hear the plot. I especially related to the the lead attorney, who though he had no experience in criminal cases, he was willing to put his multi-millionaire corporate practice on hold for 6 months, to defend, pro bono, a miss-guided, 18-year-old defendant. The 6 months taught this attorney about life, through the eyes of people who he would have never otherwise be intimate with. His 6 months also influenced change in many who had previously put their aspirations on hold. This is a wonderful novel.
Rating: Summary: A terrific read! Review: I just "discovered" J.F. Freedman, and I consider it a red-letter day. His "Key Witness" was so riveting that I spent most of a cold, snowy Saturday engrossed in its pages. The man is a terrific stylist and plotter, and his characters seem to live and breathe on the page. I heartily recommend this novel to any reader in search of quality reading.
Rating: Summary: Not different enough Review: I used to read the off Grisham, but I've stopped now because a.) I'm tired of Southern lawyers struggling against their social betters and b.) Grisham's 'rules' about what works in a thriller and what doesn't are always too slavishly followed. The problem with this book is that it's too close to Grisham, without having its own unique angle. Why not strike out, JF?
Rating: Summary: Good Read Review: If you like Perry Mason material, you'll like this book. I must say that one of my pet peeves about modern-day authors is that they like to jump around with many sub-plots which come togehter during the book. I wish there were current authors who could tell a story with a continuous story line. Freedman likes to jump around with many sub-plots; this I don't like. His relationships, particularly the romantic ones, are a bit thin. But I really enjoyed the read. For me, in spite of the criticisms above, this was a real "page turner" and I found myself reading well into the night because I couldn't put the book down; unusual for me.
