Summary: Is this what you want?
Review: If you went to a gym and all of the trainers were 98 pound weaklings, wouldn't you go to another gym? Use some common sense. This book is based on a completely false premise that the so-called yogi's described in this book are actually "enlightened" beings and that their conceptions of reality and their practices can actually be of some benefit to you. Yeah, if you want to end up a celibate ascetic just follow the path that these guys did and you can end up just like them. Is this what you really want? Is this what it really means to be a realized yogi united with your eternal infinite Self?

Summary: Living with Swami Rama
Review: One of the greatest books about living the life of a yogi, this book provides great inspiration towards spirituality and devotion towards one's own master(Guru bhakti). Reading this book provided a feeling of living with the great Swami Rama throughout his life in Himalayas. It changed my life and thinking and oriented me towards actions needed to reach one's own goal.

Summary: Swami Rama's early years
Review: Swami Rama is one of the overlooked great figures of our time. For twenty years I had the privledge of being one of his students. His indepth understanding of the human condition, his selfless service and his profound attainment of states higher consciousness was a wonder to behold. In this autobiography he relates in a humble way his encounters with his early teachers. Since he was raised in a cave monestary from the age of four his life was very different from our modern way of developing as a person. While some of the stories stretch our credability they all actually happened. I realize that many people have difficulty accepting other peoples experience, especially if it outside the range of their own limited life experience and challange our own fixed ideas. Swami Rama definitely challanges us about how the world is, in a very real way, but I find that challange refreshing and inspiring. His core experience, that the goal of human life is spiritual attainment and Self realization pulls us out of our small limited view of the world. It is one of the great spiritual classics. If I was stranded on a desert island with only three books this would be one of them.

Summary: Excellent inspirational book one can have in his life
Review: This book clearly gives true life story of Great student of Yoga and sincere followers of Yogic Philosophy. It depicts Swami Rama's day to day learning and life of true Sadhakas. It is inspiration for all of us to lead our life in more successful way by facing all stumbling blocks through Meditation and Sadhana.

It is impossible to explain the value of this book through mere words, so far I have presented this valuable book to whom so ever I respect most in my life. That is the best way I can show my respect to them.

Summary: Fairy tales of Hindu slavery
Review: This book has a basic erroneous premise that the author requires you to accept without question. The premise is that all of the characters in the book are "enlightened" yogi's. This is absurd and totally misleading to anyone who is truly seeking their own enlightenment. This is all Hindu Caste System b.s. The very word "swami" which swami Rama designates himself as is part of the slavery attitude of the so-called Dharma of the liberationistic Hindu Caste System. Do you really think that a bunch of skinny celibate old guys living lives of renunciation makes them yogi's. This is a great path to follow if you want to end up totally miserable.

Summary: One mans search for the reason for living in a body
Review: This fantastic book and its information has in-fact change my entire reading materials and the approached I made towards medicant, sadhus or sages. The subject materials has made me an ardent reader of any book in relation to such people. I have introduce this book to many of my friends who have also changed their way of selecting book for their knowledge. It should be rated as one of the best read book.

Review: This is a timeless classic by one of the most influential yoga masters of the 20th century. It transports you into the caves of the Himalayas and introduces you to the great adepts who live there. This is the real thing from a man whose whole life was an extraordinary spiritual adventure. One of the best books on spirituality ever!

Summary: What spirit is man can be...
Review: This is a wonderful book of stories. Swami Rama is not afraid to show you the pros and the cons of renunciate life. This is a reality check for all those who feel as though they need to escape the rat race and try the razor's edge. There are just as many charlatans on the path as there are sages and still more "Swamis" that have simply missed the boat and end up like a clatter of sideshow performers on venice boardwalk. The message appears to be that the path of renunciation is no better or worse than the path of action in the real world. Awe-inspiring, to be sure...

Summary: The best book I have ever read
Review: This is the book which you come across only once in a lifetime and hang on to it for ever. Mere words are not sufficient to describe the greatness of the ideals conveyed in this book. All I can say is that it is the essence of my life.
