Summary: Excellent Research and Insight about a Remarkable Man!
Review: The extensive research done on Edgar Cayce by Sid Kirkpatrick is the most through, objective, ACCURATE account of the life and work of one of the most remarkable men of the past century! Several members of my family were close friends with Mr. Cayce when he lived in Selma, Alabama, and the accounts of them chronicled by Mr. Kirkpatrick in this book were exactly as my records and letters reveal. It was so refreshing to read such a credible account of such an unassuming, amazing man and to overshadow the "tabloid" exploitation of Cayce by publications or people that only distort and impune TRUE psychic abilities. I know from researching my families relationship with Edgar Cayce that he was a caring, honest, sincere person--- but not everyone had a grandfather who could validate Cayce's character and motives first hand. But Sid Kirkpatrick's research and this book have done just that! It's a great tribute to Cayce and the importance of his work to our civilization! P.S. Sid, if you read this I hope you will get in touch with me. I would like some input on a "next step" on what to do with my Cayce material. Thanks! abhall730@cs.com

Summary: The burden of a gift
Review: This book demonstrates how Edgar Cayce's gift shaped his life and all the hardships he could have avoided had he not had "vision". Stanley Kirkpatrick is very thorough and we follow Edgar from his earliest days where he plays with "fairies" or tiny spirits to his untimely death as he was unable to follow his own advice for healthy living. It is fascinating life and a well written book.

Summary: Edgar Cayce : An American Prophet
Review: This book is an exceptional telling of a remarkable true story. In the 57 years that I have been active in working with the ideas and data that flowed through Edgar Cayce, I value this book as the deepest examination of the real person and history of Cayce and his contributions to: growth in saving one's soul and one's body and one's world. Kirkpatrick's skill and energy as an investigative journalist make solid and tangible the history and faith of a man possessed by a profound talent lived out in a life of faith and human struggle. This book is both an introduction and summary of much of that which is central in what Cayce taught. It serves this role by depicting in detail how Cayce lived in his own life the spiritual laws he presented. This telling does not canonize Cayce; nor does it psychoanalyse him. The credibility of this book that particularly touched me is based on detailed, explicit, documented investigative journalism.

Summary: Quite long, in depth and vastly interesting
Review: THis book starts off very slow but like a nice Gravy it cooks nicely this way. It is very interesting and somewhat inspiring, as well as fascinating. It definitely satisfied the appetite I had for Mr. Cayce and his mysterious work. It is amazing after reading this book to see how unknown Edgar Cayce is these days. His accuracy is astounding. I wonder also why a movie hasn't been made about this American Prophet. SOme of this book is very hard to swallow but in all it is very enjoyable and easy to digest. I urge all Cayce wonderers or even Psychic fans to take a long peek at this amazing Biography.

Summary: What a fabulous book!!
Review: This has got to be the best most complete book ever written on Edgar Cayce who is truly the father of the new age. I really felt like I got to know him in a way that I have not before. One of the most fascinating people of the 20th century and a wonderfully written book!!

Summary: No Soap...But plenty of Soul
Review: This is a brilliant and heartwarming book that begs to be turned into a movie. But what else would you expect from the author who brought us A Cast of Killers? Take notice Tom Hanks! This is the roll for you.

Summary: John from L.a.
Review: This is a brilliant book about a highly unusual man. Having read the previous Cayce biography, THERE IS A RIVER, I thought I knew pretty much all there was to know about the man--but this book breaks all kinds of new ground, and does so with great style and panache--I couldn't put it down.

Summary: A Heart-Warming Book
Review: This is a truly remarkable book in so many ways--the kind of biography that slowly pulls you in and doesn't let you get away. I was captivated by all the fascinating things that came out of this man while he was in trance, but what really made me like Cayce and love this book is the way that the author has captured the heart-warming story of Cayce's personal struggle to come to grips with his amazing talents. This book renews my faith in mankind!

Summary: flim-flam, baloney, malarkey
Review: This is one of the most gullible (or possibly disingenuous) authors I've ever read. How anybody could seriously entertain the nonsensical ideas attributed to the charlatan Cayce I don't understand. Ughh.
