Summary: All the spice of baby formula
Review: This was the first Johanna Lindsey novel I had read in years. How disappointing. The chemistry between Duncan and Sabrina was non-existent, they certainly didn't spar and the love scenes (there are only two) are boring! The only character that really interested me was Ophelia (the bad girl). At least she had some spark.

Summary: The Heir is all HOT AIR
Review: Where's the fire? Where's the passion? Where's the romance? WHY ARE THESE TWO THE MAIN CHARACTERS?!?!?!? They are boring boring boring!!! And unlike some of Lindsey's other books, there's no spark. She should have focused on Rafe, or even Ophelia, they probably would have made a more interesting book!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: No Passionate love story
Review: Ok, at first the story was very interested, I was hooked on the first two chapters, then it go very tedious, the story leaves you feel cheated, the only best character is Ophelia, she is very self centered she is the bad guy. But it seems like the two main characters just ignored each other. Duncan could have been more a man and fought for Sabrina, and Sabrina is too forgiving.

Summary: HORRIBLE!
Review: I usually like Lindsey's works and there are some better than others but this one is the worst she's ever done. I didn't care for the characters and she seems to have the habit of having other plots combined with the main plot which is annoying because they come out of the blue and it doesn't enhance the story. A big disappointment! I hope this won't happen again or she hasn't lost her touch!

Summary: Boring and Predictable
Review: I found this book to very predicatable, and in a very boring way. Usually when Johanna Lindsey is predicatable, she is still entertaining, but not this time. For the first time reading one of her books I actually put the book down about half way through because I could not stand to read any further. The characters were flat and uninteresting. I would not recommend reading this unless you are a real fan and read all of her books.

Summary: Not up to standard
Review: In her lastest novel,THE HEIR,, JL is not at her best. As a long time reader of historical romances, this one falls short of GREAT. It is a good read if you don't have anything better to do. The plot is that a Duncan, a Scottsman, is called back to London by his English grandfather. His grandfather makes Duncan his heir and has already chosen a bride for him, the beautiful Ophelia. But once there Duncan refuses to marry her because he has met the lovely "bad Blooded" Sabrina. They become friends. Sabrina thinks that Duncan doesn't want to marry her because she is his "friend" and Duncan doesn't realize that he love her, assuring his grandfather that they are just "friends". And the story just goes on and on with a happy ending. The story lacked an intresting plot and would not be worth the full price. If you really want to read it, then borrow it from somebody or buy it used for a lower price. Try JL's book Man of My Dreams, now that is a book worth buying. For other great historical/regency books try Stephanie Laurens, Julia Quinn, Julia London or Amanda Quick.

Summary: "The Heir"
Review: I have always loved Johanna Lindsey but this book was so sophomoric and juvenile I could hardly finish it. Come on old girl, lets at least give it the old college try.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Better than "The Joining", but.......
Review: Still not up to the standards of the old Johanna. The characters just weren't as interesting or passionate as many that she has done in the past. This author can do much better. She needs to rediscover her strengths and get back to what she does best. If I may make a suggestion..... Jeremy Malory!!!!!

Summary: Good, but could be a lot better!!
Review: I have just finished reading The Heir and I found the story enjoyable however, I too felt that the characters lacked that certain zing. I have been a Johanna Lindsey fan for many years now and can confirm that she has given me a great deal of pleasure through her wonderful stories and characters. I do feel however, that her last couple of novels have been missing that certain spark between the characters as well as the plots being very weak. Lets hope Ms Lindsey's forth coming novel can reflect a return to that magical action that she can create between her lead characters as well as an original plot.

Summary: I liked it!
Review: Normally I prefer books with a London "Ton" setting, but this one was pretty good without my favorite backgrounds... the characters were likable, some great twists to expected plot lines. I'd buy it again - which is my personal standard for romance novels.
