Summary: NL-S approved book
Review: Ekaterina Gordeeva's book My Sergei is an excellent book about her life.

Ekaterina Gordeeva's book, My Sergei, is one of the best autobiographies's I have read about the life of a famous ice skater. It is a well-written book that has a very real life feel to it. It reveals that the life of an ice skater is not as easy as most people believe it to be. I found that it was easy to relate to Ekaterina. She is a very self-disciplined person, and she has worked extremely hard to get to where she is.

The setting changes throughout the book, from the US, to Russia, to friends' homes, to the Olympics. The plot was romance, but also hinted at some adventure when she talks of the Olympics and her life now, without Sergei and how she is dealing with it.

The book was not to difficult to read. It feels like she is right there talking to you, which creates a warm feeling. The parts that were most interesting to me were: when she would talk of how she felt before a performance or when she described what a day in her life was like. I found it to be quite different than what I had imagined.

People who are interested in ice skating and the story of how Ekaterina came to be what she is would be interested in this book. This book taught me that even when your life changes drastically, as in the death of your husband you can still find joy in the ones you love, and they will help you cope.

Summary: a wonderful, touching book
Review: "My Sergei" is by far the best book I've ever read. It talks about the death of Sergei, but it really focuses on the good parts of his life and what a great person he was. It also talks about how their daughter, Daria is a constant, yet very much welcomed reminder of Sergei. Read this book! You'll love it. I've read it probably 5 times and I love it more and more each time I read it.

Summary: What an amazing love story!
Review: This was such a beautiful book, one of my favourites. This book is truly amazing, and would be a winner for fans and for people who don't know anything of figure skating, because it's not just about the skating, it's about the love between two people, an amazing and tragic love. This is a book for anyone who loves to read true stories that can give courage and inspiration, or anyone simply wanting a good love story. This book is simply amazing and a must-read!

Summary: A definite tear-jerker love story.
Review: This book was one of the most wonderful I have ever read. I encourage every literate person the world over to read it, and every illiterate person should learn to read so that they may read it. I was very touched by the simplicty with which Ekaterina wrote the book, and I understood the love that the two of them shared. Try it, you'll agree.

Summary: Wonderfully touching and inspiring!
Review: Absolutely wonderful, although very sad. I had to pace myself in reading this book toward the last several chapters because of how touched and saddened it made me feel. The lose of Sergei Grinkov is truly tragic to me as a simple fan but to Ekaterina as a partner, on the ice and in love was devastating for me to read. It leaves me anxious to read more on how she is getting on with her life on her own, with Daria, and as a skater. I hope she continues to write.

Summary: I felt I lived Katya's life while reading this book
Review: This is definetely a wonderful book. It totally absorbes you. I felt as though I lived Ekaterina's life while reading MY SERGEI. It felt like Ekaterina was sitting right next to me on the sofa and telling me her life story. I could hear her voice from the pages. Everything is written so sincerely. It is truly a love story. Even though love is not the only thing Katya talks about, every word, every page, every chapter of this book is filled with feelings for Sergei. I would advise this book to everybody. It makes you believe that true love still exists in this world.

Summary: There's nothing like it!
Review: My Segei portrayed a tale that feels so fantasy like, but is true and real. Katia's recollections of her childhood and the innocence that she had always experienced was magnificent. I especially enjoyed this book because I often watch ice skating. My friend reccommended it to me and i immediately fell in love with it. I've now read the book at least five times! But it seems that the best things in life are taken away or are out of reach. But of course, Katia could not have lived in such bliss forever. When i began the book, i did not know of the tradgedy ahead. i only knew that Segei would die. The descrition and the "realness" that was expressed in her words draws you in. No one ever wanted Sergei to die. But it seems that since he did die at such a young age, he will live on longer than he would have being but an Olympic gold medalist and World Champion. He would have been remembered well, yes. But Katia's story will bring Sergei into the lives of every reader of this book. This is a book to read over and over again.

Review: it's such a breathtaking book...oh my God..i finished reading it within one day! Though i really feel sad for Katia..i am very happy to know that she at last found the courage to skate again...knowing that Sergei will still be with her while she skates and that she will not be alone!!!! By the way, i am now planning to read A LETTER FOR DARIA.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A beautiful, touching love story
Review: This is one of the best books I've ever read. Katia and Sergei had a beautiful love story and an adorable little daughter, Daria. It's so sad that Sergei was taken away at such a young age. I admire Katia for her strength to write this book, to go on skating, and her love for Daria. She's an amazing person and I loved the book.
