Review: When I saw the book I was happy. I have a full collection and to be able to follow through with the on-going story of the Cortenays it is a pleasure. There are no dull spots as eveything flows. I can not weait for his next book.

Review: To add my two cents worth to a comment from an earlier reviewer of this book...Wilbur Smith is the best novelist writing today..period!!"Monsoon"is a worthy sucessor to "Birds of Prey" and another welcome (but too long in coming...) addition to the "Smith list" "Monsoon" continues the story of the early Courntey seafarers, Sir Henry and his sons, Tom Guy and Dorian. As is common in Smith's book there is a bit of tension (shall we say) between some of the brothers. Sir Henry, after 4 years away from the sea, must undertake, at the crowns request, an extremely dangerous undertaking, and takes his sons along on the voyage with consequences for all, including death, loss of fortune and capture and more adventures than any 4 men should have to undertake. This book takes the Courtney's to Africa for the first time, and Smith's love and awe for this land shows in every line.When he describes the beauty and granduer and yes..violence of the "Dark Continent" you can see and feel it as you find yourself walking along with his characters..(telling which characters and the circumstances would be giving away too much of the plot..)If you have never read a Wilbur Smith book, deny yourself no longer..hurry down to your bookstore or amazon..or even your library and get this book..then read the other 26 books..and discover why Wilbur Smith fans are so loyal..but Mr. Smith, if you should read these lines..PLEASE dont make your readers wait two years for the next one....

Review: Had a hard time putting it down, but managed to get some sleep during the time I was reading Monsoon. Enthralling novel, as are all of Wilbur Smith books. Have been reading him for as long as he has been writing and eagerly await his next best seller. Bought in Britain in March 1999.

Summary: Wilbur has done it yet again - a rip-roaring story.
Review: How foolish of me to think that Wilbur Smith had begun to run out of steam when he left the bush to journey to Egypt but how wrong can someone get. Birds of Prey was an aperitif for the main course that is Monsoon. How clever to have a prequel of the Courtney stories (par for the course these days) and it works. I felt cheated when the story ended, could he not have written an extra 500 pages? How long do we wait until the next book - too long I am sure.

Review: Monsoon is impossible to put down. When you are not reading this book it is constantly on the mind. A wonderful sequel to Birds of Prey that has captivated me with the early Courtneys who first arrived on Africa. As a reader of nearly every Smith book in print, my opinion is that this is equal to if not better than 'When the Lion Feeds' and 'River God'. I am on pins and needles awaiting more words on Sean, Dorry and Guy-so Wilbur, please hurry!

Review: I know this is a big claim, but Wilbur Smith is the best author of modern time. His ability to captivate and completely engorss his readers is unsurpassed. I eagerly await every release of a new Smith novel. I hope he continues to turn them out forever! Thank you Wilbur

Summary: Breathtaking
Review: MONSOON is a feast of a breath taking story of the heroic days of tall ships, written with immense beauty of style. The finely chiselled characters and details jump at you from the pages, enthralling, ever moving on. It's a rare feat of reading pleasure as your mind paints for you a breathtaking vision that rings true and could never be matched by film or any other media. I read this novel, never once having the urge to watch TV. When I finally turned the last page I felt a deep loss that I had come to the end of the book. I hope Wilbur Smith is busy with his next book, I can't wait. MONSOON makes out of any reluctant reader of novels a consummate bookworm. If you think that the purchase price of the book daunting, it's likely the best value for money you'll ever encounter.

Summary: Fantastic Follow on to Birds of Prey.
Review: ordered this from Amazon.com.uk so i could get it early and it was worth the extra exspense. Monsoon is a book that is very hard to put down,in fact it is so good i read it in 2 days (674 pages )and was left wanting more. There seems to be lots of things left hanging and hopefully there will be another book after this to cler those up. excellent excellent book Wilbur lets have the next one soon please.

Review: A great follow on to Birds of Prey and leaves plenty of space between this book and the first book situated in Africa of Sean Courtney for many more novels. Unfortunately we will have to wait one more year for the follow on to Monsoon.

Summary: It just gets better and better
Review: Monsoon follows on "Birds of Prey". Once you pick up the book you can not put it down until you turn the last page. It plays down in a variety of sets. England, Africa and the oceans. The extermination of the pirates of the coast of Africa starts the events. The fighting of the Courtney brothers : One captured by the pirates and sold to an Arab prince as a son. The other who swore to find his captured brother and return him. With coflict at home (England) with brother Willam and the law. The fourth brother hates his twin and does everything is his power to bring him to a fall. This book is like a snowball gathering momentum as it nears the end...there is no stopping.
