Review: The book was good, but was much too dragged out in the beginning. I didn't find it as good as about a dozen or so other Catherine Cookson books which I have read lately, including "The Black Velvet Gown", "A Dinner of Herbs", "The Cultured Handmaiden", "The Whip". The ending was very good.
