Review: "Oh, to be a Moomin and to dance in the waves while the sun gets up!" Finn Family Moomintroll, originally called The Happy Moomins, is another wonderful book from Tove Jansson. So cute!
This spring, after waking up after their long winter's sleep, the Moomins see a gold butterfly! As everyone knows, a yellow butterfly is a good omen-but what's a gold? The Snork Maiden says, "Gold is even better than yellow-you'll see." And after a summer filled with many adventures-sailing to an island, turning the living room into a jungle, and meeting (gasp!) the Groke and the Hobgoblin-everyone must agree. "Hat's off to the adventures of spring!"
Yet another fascinatingly woven tail about these imperturbable little Finnish Moomins-I keep reading it over and over!

Tove Jasson Published: Farrar Startus & Giroux, September 1990 If you're looking for a great series that won't let you put it down untill you're finished, you want the Moomintrolls! This book is one of them out of the series. It is a fantasy book with wild creatures. Its when Moomintroll and his friends go up to Lonely Mountain that they find a hat! A very black hat that they decide would look fabulous on Moominpappa. This Hat takes them through many adventures, and those adventures take them to more! At one point in the book Moomintroll meets two little friends that make him be a judge for a trail against a funny mysterious creature. This book is a very unthinkable book!! In Finn Family Moomintroll the characters are wild. Some are Moomintroll, Moominmamma, Moominpappa, Sniff, Snufkin, Snorkmaiden, Snork, Hob Goblin, Muskrat, Hemline, Thingumy and Bob and many more. Moomintroll is the main character he is white and looks kind of like a hippo that stands on two legs with no big teeth and a long tail with fur at the end of it. His Best friend Snufkin is also a main characters at times when I say times that means he travels a lot, and is mean a lot. He's never at one place for too long. The only things he has is his mouth organ his very big t-shirt and his hat. Snorkmaiden also plays a part in this funny book. She is a Moon, well sorta, she turns different colors when ever she's feeling a feeling and wears a beautiful gold bracelet also. Moomintroll has a slight crush on her. Moominmamma and Moominpappa are s parents they are always there when something goes wrong and the funny thing is everyday Moomintroll goes on an adventure and his parents say be back by tomorrow morning. If you want to know more about the characters read the book for yourself! I defiantly recommend this book if you like fantasy . I would rate this book on a scale of one to ten a 100. It really catches your eye and is a book that just gives different feeling you might even be up reading it the whole night, which was the case with me. I truly think if you haven't read the Moomintrolls you're really missing out!

Summary: A great book for children and grown-ups alike!
Review: After a long winter of hibernation, spring is back and Moomintroll and his friends Sniff and Snufkin can finally get out and play in the woods and fields of Moominvalley. That's when they find the Hobgoblin's hat and bring it back home as a present for Moominpappa. Unfortunately, the hat's too big so they decide to use it as a waste paper basket. But overnight, the eggshell they've just thrown away mysteriously turns into five small white clouds...
Finn Family Moomintroll is a collection of several of the Moomin funny and silly little adventures following the discovery of the hat. Indeed, the sometimes absurd situations reminded me of Dr. Seuss's Cat in the Hat. Lavishly illustrated with wonderful black and white ink drawings by the author, it is also a perfect book to read aloud to your children! Other titles in the series are: Comet in Moominland, Moominsummer Madness, Moominland Midwinter, Moominpappa at Sea, Moominpappa's Memoirs, and Tales from Moominvalley.

Summary: Great to read and fun for the kids too!
Review: An excellent children's book, one of a series which is also great fun for me to read to the brood. The book consists of the adventures of the Moomentrolls who are pleasant, funny, playful troll like creatures living in the north country. They have interesting adventures and a good sense of humor. The author has amusing notes in the book. It is clever and wity and the humor and jokes are more accessible to children than some of Lewis Carroll's worldplay. The series is quite good. In my opinion this puts Harry Potter to shame and is more accessible and fun for younger children than Tolkien. Both our four year old and seven year old are quite amused and captivated by different aspects of the book.

Review: From the beautiful illustrations to the quaint characters, these books enchant and delight. Perhaps I am pushing these stories too far, but I find they operate on a number of levels, particularly the later ones. You can always pretend your buying them for your sisters kids

Review: I am 11 years old and when I read this book, I was amazed! This is one of my 5 FAVORITE books on the face of the Earth! It is so well written and the plot was awsome! I would buy this as a present for ANYONE!!!

Summary: Memories from childhood
Review: I am so excited to find this book! I remember it as "The Happy Moomins" and read it over and over again when I was a kid. I have been searching for it on the Internet not knowing that the title had changed. I couldn't remember the name of the author, although I remembered it was Swedish sounding. Last night I found it listed on the Library of Congress web site and got Tove Jansson's name. Low and behold -- I plugged the name into Amazon and here are all the books! I had no idea there were so many... I ordered almost everything and can't wait until they arrive and I can share them with my children. Who says you can't go home again???

Summary: 30 Years Old & Still In Love With The Moomins
Review: I first read the moomin series when I was ten years old. Throughout my life they have been my favorite summer reads, and the best gifts to give to pre-teen readers. Although Finn Family is not the first book in the series, I recommend starting with it. From the first chapter you will be charmed by Jansson's moomin magic.

Review: I have read most of the books of the Moomins, and this book is one of my favorites. This book is about the Moomin family, and their friends going on exciting adventures, by finding the Hobgoblin's Hat, and discovering the Hattifatteners' Island. New characters, such are Thingummy and Bob, and the Groke, comes out also.

Summary: My seven year old son loved this book.
Review: I just finished reading this book to my seven year old son and he loved it. He didn't want me to stop reading. The characters are endearing and the stories are exciting for seven year olds.
