Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not very practical
Review: As a political activist, this book has become my most dog-eared volume. The more I put its lessons to work, the more I re-read "How to Win Arguments," the better I get. Wow! It feels great to win arguments!

If you take serious ideas seriously, this book is for you. The author honed his rhetorical skills on the most important arguments of the 20th century (e.g., The Cold War). The secrets of his reknowned persuasiveness are available through this book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The Book's Title is Accurate

Summary: Not very practical
Review: If you are looking for a book about 'debating' or 'logical argumentation', then MAYBE, this is the book for you. In general, the book goes ad nauseum into the author's past debates.

Often, the author makes a great effort into explaining some concept with debating situation examples and then closes off the chapter with a comment like "and this can also be applied to everyday arguments etc". I became quite frustrated reading this book and found others with much more praticality.

The author doesn't seem to understand that in reality, most arguements are not carefully planned debates but often arise from 'emotions' and cannot be easily won through 'logic' alone.

Summary: Tour de Force
Review: These tapes will mesmerize you. Rusher's vast and nimble intellect is never more impressive than in this work. I have found myself listening to sections several times, each time to feel the impulsion of his reasoning, the hear those carefully crafted sentences once more. There simply are not many Rusher's in the world anymore, and I should think much for the worse. Here he is learned and fair, his wit keen as his memory, his recollections of his rhetorical battles always engaging. This is a must-read for anyone interested in wielding language with purpose. Tory Hanson's voice is perfect.
