Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: I think I read this book about 10-12 years ago. I found it in the local library and the story was so immensely entertaining that I could not put it down. I cannot believe that I remember it all these years after and I am really excited i found it again. Very good book for teenage girls, and I recall being mesmerized by Abigail, who thinks that "Abigail" is the name of a witch. I'm getting my copy now!!
Rating: Summary: MICHAEL.V, I thought it was a good story Review: I thought the story Playing Beatie Bow was really good. I watched the video and listened to the casette. The plot of the story was a good one.Poor old Abigail just an every day average kid who doesn't think that time traveling is possible laugh laugh. But I think when Abigail went over to 1873 she could have continuously saved the Bow family from danger and saved "The Gift", and I think Abigail in real life would have been more distressed when she went back in time. But overall good story.
Rating: Summary: **Excellent** Review: I thought this was an absolutley fantastic book! I am only 13 but this book really reached inside and touched my heart. I fell in love with Judah's character and i bet in real life he is pretty alright. If you haven't read it i assure you it is fantastic!
Rating: Summary: This was the best book I have read in ages! Review: Im so happy my English teacher made our class read this book! I couldn't believe how intense it was! It gives you a good taste of what good books are out there...its almost feels like your living in the past with the characters. I would recomend this book to anyone of every age who is willing to read about an extraordinary adventure!

Rating: Summary: Just loved it Review: My best friend in Seattle gave this to me before I left for Manila to study. I was 13. I used to live in Australia and have an enormous love for fairies and anything old, so I immediately gobbled up the story. And you see how young, cynical Abigail changes into a young woman wise beyond her years, all in the span of a few months! At 22 I still love it, but I sorely want a new copy to replace my tattered one!
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Review: Okay, I'm not actually under thirteen (I am 13) but anyway.... This book is beautiful. It's evocative, passionate and has an elusive, mysterious aura about it. The characters are all loved by Ruth Park, even the obnoxious Beatie and the hypochondriac, Gibbie. I loved the way Abigail was so independant, and so strong. I completely fell in love with Judah and I don't think Robert will replace him- not for Abigail or me, actually. Ruth Park is a fantastic author so I would recommend other books by her, particularly the Harp in the South- a look at suburban Sydney in the 1940's.
Rating: Summary: AN OKAY BOOK Review: Our Grade 8 English class listened to the cassette and watched the video. I would not read the novel if I had the choice to. I thought it was okay, but wasn't exellent. It kept me fairly interested, although I don't like romances.
Rating: Summary: Hayley Haneveer from K I Tas Australia A good book Review: Our grade Eight English class had to listen to the tape and watch the video. I think it was good and it explained everything well. I think that the book would have been better than the video. It was a bit to the iffy side.
Rating: Summary: Another Ruth Park Success Review: Playing Beatie Bow is a book which recognises the inherent childish qualities of 14 year olds, and how time and experiences can turn teenage girls into wonderful adults. It looks at life through many eyes, and at the changes which society has made - both for better and for worse - in the past 150 years. Reading this book has been an annual event for me for 14 years, and I am only 25. I can thoroughly recommend a book which will have you smelling and hearing "The Rocks" in Sydney well before the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House were even physically possible!
