Rating: Summary: More Like 4 and a 1/2 Stars Review: This book is good...not great, just, good. It isn't as Good as the previous Bond Book, Casino Royale(read my review), and that is why I gave it 4 and a half stars instead of 5. It starts out slow, like all Fleming Books do, but it gradually builds itself up to a great closing action sequence. Sorry, no surprise ending this time around for Bond(even though it seems like there is going to be one). Anyways, the book seems like two books combined. For one, it's rather longer than "Casino," but, it's the build-up that will keep you from falling asleep. everything is really well described, you can imagine everything. My favorite part is(don't worry, I wont give away any spoilers)towards the end, when bond is,...uh,...in the water(i'm trying to keep it a surprise for those who haven't read it yet) It is very descriptive and very exciting. All in all, it starts out long and slow and boring, but I beg you, don't put it down...please, just hold out at least to the Harlem, NY part(which is only 3 or 4 chapters in), and I promise it will get better. So, read this book, you'll like it...eventually:)
Rating: Summary: The Best Bond I've read Review: This book was incredible! It had the bad guy and the girl. Fleming described everything so well and the book had a great ending and it was action-packed throughout the entire thing. I couldn't put it down. This and From Russia With Love are the best! I'm reading them in order and I'm on the 6th book Dr. No. But this book has good fight scenes, Mr. Big is a great villian and the parts with Leiter and the shark. And, O yeah I forgot the scene in the bait warehouse! One of the best books I've read in a long time!
Rating: Summary: Great, but not Fleming's Best Review: This has to be one of the best Bond books I've ever read. Ian Fleming is one of the greatest authors I've ever read. His mastery of detail give you the impression of knowing the characters personally and being there watching the whole thing. Fleming's characters and his take on America are superb. Fleming's best by far is From Russia with Love, though.
Rating: Summary: Not so good... Review: This is the second book I read by Fleming (the first being "GOLDFINGER").And, for the second time, I fought to reach the end of the book, because I tought it to be boring. I prefer Clive Cussler and his Dirk Pitt adventures. (although Fleming has much more class)
Rating: Summary: Great, but it has its flaws Review: This is the second James Bond book that I've read (the first being CASINO ROYALE). I thought that this book really lived up to the first one. I think that it was great, as good as CASINO ROYALE. But, like CASINO ROYALE, LIVE AND LET DIE had its flaws. In CASINO ROYALE; the villian, Le Chiffre, was killed about two-thirds into the novel but the real conclusion is at the end and is slightly dissapointing. In LIVE AND LET DIE; the villian, Mr. Big, dies at the end (I'll leave it up to the reader to see how) but his death is slightly unbelievable. All in all LIVE AND LET DIE had better characterizations than CASINO ROYALE, but the atmosphere isn't as rich. This book is a good read and I would recomend it to any fan of the James Bond movies - but read it with an open mind because the Bond in the books isn't the same as the Bond in the movies.

Rating: Summary: Solid second effort for 007 Review: This stuff is just pure entertainment. There's no other way to describe it. Fleming has a knack for making one turn the pages at a furious rate. In this book, the second James Bond novel, he betters himself with a more sinister villian than "Casino Royale's" LeChiffre, Mr. Big. Bond is sent to uncover (then ruin) Mr. Big's stolen treasure crime ring. His adventures take him to Harlem, down the eastern U.S. coast into Florida, then to Jamaica where the action climaxes into a literal (feeding) frenzy. This is a book one simply can't put down. Makes one want to sink one's eyes into "Moonraker," the third Bond novel. As a footnote, "Live and Let Die" was the basis for many a tense moment in the sixteenth MGM/UA Bond film "Licence to Kill."
