Review: Sorry, you not-true-believers, but that nut a few reviews down is just exactly the sort of devotee Rand sought. "The people that give Objectivism a bad name" are Objectivists. And Ayn Rand.

Summary: There IS NO other kind of Objectivism.
Review: The 'sickening mess' of which some complain is the DIRECT result of books like this one. Rand herself fostered the 'cult' mentality and it is woven into the very fabric of her 'philosophy'. This volume is a very good example: she presents a 'history' of philosophy in which she classifies every major thinker other than herself and Aristotle as either an 'Attila' or a 'Witch Doctor'. There have, in Randworld, been just two philosophers in all of history who were not out to destroy the human mind, and Rand is the only one who got things altogether right. The ENTIRE purpose of this propagandistic little book, and of the 'Objectivist' movement itself, is to create a class of New Intellectuals who unreservedly agree with this assessment and will act to keep the One True Philosophy from being compromised while the rest of the world hurtles to its death a la ATLAS SHRUGGED. So if you think there's some other way to be an 'Objectivist' - check your premises.

Summary: OBJECTIVISTS
Review: Any "objectivists" that attempt to justify their existence by "fighting" for objectivism, that allow themselves to become so-called "crusaders", are even more vile and wretched than those they claim to despise. All their lives they long for something to give their existence justification, something they can FIGHT for. Its a fleeting, sickening mess, you are the people that give objectivism a bad name, and i only wish that Rand could have seen what filth she produced. I can only suggest this book to the other half of Randian Objectivists, those with ideas and thoughts of their own, not violent, sadistic, and DESTRUCTIVE imbeciles.

Summary: UNDERSTANDING OBJECTIVISM
Review: Understand that being a TOOL of objectivism is worse than being a second-hander. Personally, I believe it's a waste of one's time to fight for something he doesn't understand. Consequentially he becomes a waste of EVERYBODY'S time. Good luck in your crusade, just remember that martyr's don't exist in objectivism. Doesn't sacraficing yourself (or the majority of your waking hours) fighting for objectivism seem like a paradox??? If you choose to live your life as a TOOL of what you preach, objectivism will never win. Cult mentality will always be your downfall.

Summary: Don't listen to false Objectivists
Review: Some so-called Objectivists will tell you that "true Objectivists" shouldn't focus on getting rid of second-handers.Sure - and some doctors will tell you that you shouldn't focus on getting rid of disease. And I suppose some exterminators will tell you that you should learn to live with cockroaches, lice, and other such living scum. Don't you believe it. These people just want to water down Objectivism until it's a tame, detached, academic philosophy just like all the rest - nonthreatening, peaceable, and NICE. Nothing to be afraid of - Objectivists have "something to offer." (What altruist-collectivist nonsense! As though Objectivists have to justify their existence by OFFERING something!) The process by which this watering-down occurs is called COMPROMISE. And Ayn Rand shows clearly that when good compromises with evil, it's evil who wins. Ignore these self-appointed spokesmen for the only truly rational philosophy every discovered. If you haven't read Ayn Rand already, buy this volume and step into the full sunlight. Leave the second-handers, evaders and compromisers to the DEATHS they so richly deserve.

Summary: don't get too caought up in all of it
Review: For those who read between the lines: First of all, for any true objectivist, the desire to change minds and enlighten impossible second handers is a waste of your time. I am a producer, I agree with most of Rand's teachings, but it escapes me why so many other objectivists feel the need to proclaim their alleigance to Rand. Objectivism is a private affair, it is impossible to ever convince a second-hander of their second-handedness, it would shake everything they hold dear, and their entire belief system. So why bother? It is for those who know what Objectivism truly is to make the most out of what you know, each should be proud of who they are, and what they can offer. Although not all of them knew it, every person who accomplished something truly special, without ripping another off, without stealing others ideas, deep down, was a objectivist. Do not focus you're life on kneading the second-hander out of society, it will never happen, be the producer you claim to be. Isn't that what objectivism is about in the first place?

Review: Choking from the Smoke is a lying second-hander, parasite, looter, value-destroyer, and hater of the good for being the good. Ayn Rand discovered and integrated the ONLY COMPLETELY TRUE AND RATIONAL PHILOSOPHY. We who agree with her are not 'cultists' but are RATIONALLY PERSUADED that she was RIGHT - because she WAS, and to deny it is to deny reality. Those who disagree are merely revealing themselves as the subhuman wretches that they are. These lice who evade reason and reality have FREELY CHOSEN the premises of DEATH - and when the principles of Ayn Rand are put into practice, they will be put out of their misery as they so richly deserve and WANT. Anyone who wants to work for that future can LIVE IN IT TODAY by reading the works of the greatest genius who ever lived: Ayn Rand. This book is a good introduction to her thought. Fight for the DEATH of the looters! In the name of the best within us!

Review: Objectivism would be great a philosophy if we all lived in the 19th century. As it is, one has to ignore 100 years of biology, philosophy, psychology, cultural studies, etc. to believe in this shlop.
