Rating: Summary: AMAZING INSIGHT INTO DR. MOON Review: THIS BOOK IS AN AMAZING INSIGHT INTO DR. MOON, HIS FAMILY AND HIS CHURCH. I DON'T THINK THERE HAS EVER BEEN SUCH A CLEARER LOOK INTO ANY BELIEF SYSTEM, FOUNDERS OF A CHURCH OR EVEN CHURCH ORGANIZATION AS "THE SHADOWS OF THE MOONS". THE AUTHOR PORTRAYS A TRUTHFUL ACCOUNT AS SHE SAW IT FROM HER PERSONAL EXPERIENCES AND GIVES A VIEW AND UNDERSTANDING BOTH POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE INTO DR. MOONS POSITION AND FAMILY. THE READER IS TRANSPORTED AND IS ABLE TO SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING TO HER THRU HER EYES AND THAT IS ALSO A RARE OCCURRENCE. TO ME IT IS LIKE A MODERN DAY VERSION OF "PILGRIM'S PROGRESS" THE AUTHOR BEING CHRISTIAN.
Rating: Summary: A sad story Review: This is a sad story and unfortunately, it is non-fiction. It is not an enjoyable book to read. It is a story of a wife who has been badly mistreated and deserves just compensation. It is a story of a young man who has a choice between finding a way to conquer the demons of addiction or lead a life of misery, which will probably end earlier than it should, as a result. One cannot help but sympathize with this young lady even if only half of what she writes is true. However, the book is highly sensationalistic, packed with outrageous allegations, and in some ways is not intrinsically coherent. It reminded me of the 'Jerry Springer' type shows on TV. The reader will note that there are no footnotes, bibliography or even an index. Well, the author must have wanted it out in a hurry. The broader issue here, and the more serious one, in this reviewer's opinion, is that of these so-called 'New Age Religions' or new Religious Movements. Proponents of these new religions will often point to history to illustrate that the world's major religions suffered through steep difficulties in their early years before getting established. It took centuries. Not years or decades, but centuries. If that is so, then a prudent reader of this book will conclude that the Unification Church has some pretty serious problems to work through while its founder is still alive. As to the question of whether this is a cult centered on one man or indeed a new religion in its infancy, much to the chagrin of the Margaret Singers', Steve Hassans' and the Herb Rosedales' of the world, there is only one legitimate judge to answer that question - history itself! Posterity will just have to wait and see.
Rating: Summary: Much undoubtedly true, but seen from one side only Review: While I know enough of the facts to be able to accept many of those I did not know, I am certain that there are elements in Ms Hong's background that also contributed to the marraige breakdown. At the time of the divorce of the Princes & Princess of Wales, Charles was generally seen as the bad guy, Diana a saint. A year later, even the media is acknowledging Charles many many strenghts and that while Diana sought to be of help to others, her immaturity and difficult family background meant that she was more often that not acting from weakness rather than strength and created considerable problems around her that Charles and others not to publicize. As for Hyo Jin Moon, few people knoe the appaling bullying that the Moon children suffered at school as a result of prejudice "inspired" by the liberal media who hated Rev Moon's vision of a world free from Communism, some Christians who were offended by his theology, simple rascists and others who wouldn't take the time to really exaamine his activity but took the easy road of fearing the unknown. Yes, there are problems in the Moon family, but let he who is without sin throw the first stone.
Rating: Summary: Excellent story of trials and triumph Review: Wonderful book that exposes Sun Myung Moon for the false prophet he truly is! Nansook Hong's story of abuse from her ungodly in-laws is a must-read. She overcame incredible odds in order to gain a life worth living for herself and her children. I look forward to a sequel: a fitting title would be "Out of the Shadow of the Moons".

Rating: Summary: MOON - the devil in disguise Review: Yes in christian terms he is the devil in disguise. It is not only the author that was abused, but the whole understanding of love in our western world is abused, if You understand this book right. Nowhere is a place for the love for animals or plants or beauty as such. Sex crime and violence is the true face of a person like Moon who does everything to hide these facts. I would like to appeal to the civilised countries on this planet to stop MOON. This book is based on facts, the only problem is we western people have no clue how cruel and unlawfull people from the orient can become. This book is not an advertisment for orientals. But is this a reason to despise them ( the orientals) as such ?
