Rating: Summary: Great for in-car listening! Review: Before my parents and I went to Hungary for the first time in 1997, I forced them to listen to this tape in the car! I already had a basic command of the language, but I was worried that they would suffer from the lack of English in the Central-European country. At one point during our time there, my parents had to fend for themselves - and my Dad managed to go into a grocery store in Budapest, and order in Hungarian what he wanted! In other words - this WORKS....and works WELL! Neither of my parents are 'language-nuts', and this tape helped them to have an enjoyable holiday in Hungary. This tape package includes the cassette and a fold-out mini-script so you can follow along with the tape. This script can also be used as a quick reference for basic Hungarian phrases. There are 15 sections on the tape, including 'Common greetings', 'Numbers', 'The Airport', as well as two review sections to make sure that you're following along. The personalities on the cassette are Hungarian-speakers whose pronunciation and way of speaking is what you are going to come up against in Hungary. The phrases, words, and situations described on the cassette are both useful and extremely relevant. I highly recommend this package to anyone wishing to have a 'crash-course' in Hungarian. It worked for my uni-lingual parents - so it can easily work for anyone out there! Enjoy your Hungarian experience!
