Rating: Summary: Good Voice, Lifetime TV Channel Plot Review: OK - I will admit I am only 1/2 way finished. But I must also say that if I was not listening to this on tape with my wife, I would have used this as doorstop or paperweight by now. Kudos to the the readers on the tape - they have great voices, do their characters well. The "Nora" voice is great.
But honestly this is a tedious Black Widow rehash that you could find most nights on Lifetime Television, as a "made-for-TV" movie. If you are expecting a thriller plot, evil villains, try one of Patterson's other books. Black Widow Nora is really not terribly smart, and certainly not very original. I can see Jacklyn Smith playing "Nora" in a 1980s "Black Widow" movie. Problem here is you can't really change the channel or fast forward. Unabridged tape has lots of nice details about Nora cooking, fixing her hair, looking over her shoulder, blowing her nose (I made that last one up)... but really not that BAD a book... just not that GOOD either.
Nice book if you are listening with your wife together, and you really want to listen to something relaxing, but not so relaxing that you start to nod off and snore. Like one of those 2 hour Lifetime TV original shows on a Sunday afternoon with a killer wife type of plot.
So if you listen to it, have your crossword puzzle or something else handy to keep your mind occupied.
