Summary: Passable at best
Review: "For Better for Worse" is a romantic "comedy" about Josie, separated from her husband and flying to New York to be bridesmaid at her cousin's wedding. On the flight she meets Matt and they hit it off and arrange to meet up again later that day. Sparks fly, but through a series of blunders and misadventures the two lose contact with one another. At the same time Josie's soon to be ex-husband is flying over from London to try to win her back, and her cousin is about to make a disastrous mistake...

This is a quick and undemanding read. The plot has just enough twists to keep you interested - although you know where it is probably going to end up at times it is hard to see how it is going to get there. However the comedic part of it falls flat. It's just not funny and at times it's downright stupid. Also, the characters are all very one-dimensional. This means that you end up not really caring what happens to any of them.

An okay read, but no more.

Summary: Good, not great
Review: For Better, For Worse is a romantic comedy about Josie, a Londoner who flies to New York City to attend her American cousin's wedding. Having separated from her cheating husband, she senses that her cousin isn't certain that she is marrying the right man. It is Josie's job to stop her cousin from making the worst mistake of her life. But is she judging her cousin's situation based on her own failed marriage? And is she ready for romance -- especially when an adorable rock journalist tries to sweep her off her feet?

There are some witty moments in this novel, but not enough to make it interesting. And the novel is longer than necessary. Carole Matthews's writing style reminds of Clare Naylor's, but it lacks Naylor's signature comic timing and wit. This is a good book to read on the beach, however, it is far from memorable. If you decide to give this book a whirl, enjoy it for what it's worth, but do not expect a blockbuster read in this one.

Summary: For Better!
Review: I think this book was AWESOME. I loved everything about it except Damien. But the fact that I hated him made the book even better. I wanted everything to turn out the way it was supposed to. I felt like I was there when all the action was happening. Carole Matthews is a guineus (though I am not because I can't spell the word). Awesome, Easy read!

Summary: Not Too Shabby
Review: I was hesitant to read this book after taking Kelly Ripa's "Bachelor" advice but found "For Better, For Worse" a suprisingly fun read. While this was a another rather far-fetched romance tale, it is interesting to note that the 350 pages covers only about THREE days of hectic adventure. As a NYC cat- and- mouse type game ensues, you follow the whereabouts of 5 wannabe lovers. Each of them on very different "love agendas"; Josie looking for new love with an ex husband nipping at her heels; Damien, the heel nipper, trying desperately to win back his one true love; Matt, a new found believer in love at first sight; Martha, more in love with the wedding, than the marriage; Jack, better to have love and lost than never to have loved at all (?)

You can pretty much guess the ending in the first few chapters, but you know what they say, getting there is half the fun. This book takes a comedic look at the power of love. With very persistent characters, no NYC stone is left unturned until true love is found.

True love is eventually found, but you have to wait til the last page to get there.

Summary: Definitely For Better...
Review: I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to add a little humor into their life! I really enjoyed reading it and it was hard to put down! A fun British romantic comedy about fate, love and ducks!!! I found myself laughing out loud and waking my sleeping husband. I still can't stop laughing about the duck!
Overall, it was romantic and whimsical and funny all wrapped up into one.

Summary: Loved it until the end
Review: The book was great, funny, and interesting! I liked the fact that it kept you hanging on until the end and was still a book about romance. There were some parts that i could do without like the duck chase, but it was good none the less. The end wasn't what i expected though. I felt it was left unfinished, maybe a follow up book could be good!?

Summary: For Better,For Worse
Review: This book is a very interesting. It is about a woman in her thirty's whose marriage just ended. She is a single again and flying across the ocean to her American cousin's wedding. In Josie's mind "love stinks". But she never thought she would be seated next to a man by the name of Matt Jarvis who is a rock journalist, who just happens to be recently divorced himself.
But that is all I am going to tell you about the book. In my personal opinion, this book was very interesting. I do not think you have to be a certain age to grasp the concept of this book. A few more things that I enjoyed about this book, was that you do not have to be divorced to understand it, or have a certain attitude towards reading.
This book is like real life in a way. I typically do not have time to read books, but I made time for this one. When I would began to read the book it was hard for me to stop reading and put the book down. Josie was so funny in this book, I do not think the author instinctually intended for her to be funny, but she really was. I also enjoyed how detailed this book was. When the author had Josie explain what New York looked like, or her cousin's soon to be husband looked like, I got a visual picture. Those in turn made me like, and understand the book a little better.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to add a little humor into their life, or anyone who enjoys reading. On my reading scale I would give this book and eight. I really enjoyed reading it and it was hard to put down, something a little unusual for me to do with a book, actually read it.

Summary: Definitely different...
Review: This book started off good, and I really liked the way it was written - focusing on a bunch of different characters one by one and seeing what they were up to at that moment in conjunction with the plot. So that was cool. As the book went on, though, I began to get a little annoyed. Am I supposed to believe that after one great day, two strangers can think of nothing but each other and are going to such great lengths because they've both fallen in love with each other? I wish they'd either been together a little more at the beginning or at the end, as I didn't really feel any chemistry between them. It was an OK book overall - although the ending seemed rushed and I wish I could have known what happened after that, it wasn't very satisfying for me - but I'm rather disappointed that I bought this book at full price and am now stuck with it, since I'll probably never reread it. I'd recommend this to you only if you buy it at a used bookstore or check it out from the library and aren't expecting the best book in the world. Maybe if I'd set my expectations lower, I would have enjoying it more. :-/

Summary: The worst case of chicklit I have read to date
Review: This was a trite nightmare. Every cliche was thrown together for this book and it drove me crazy as I read it. How many more times are editors going to accept novels where the main characters serendipitously meet somewhere in NYC after missing each other everywhere else? Plus, I couldn't believe that halfway through the novel the author had the audacity to address me as the reader (and as "dear reader," nonetheless). It was the only instance in the entire book and it ruined whatever small amount of pace the author had going for her. With so much chicklit in the market, your dollars are best spent elsewhere.
