Rating: Summary: My favorite book Review: "He still moves stones" was the first Christian book that I ever read. What great imagery. Since this book, I have read every other Max Lucado book printed and never been disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Other than the Bible, this is one of the most 'moving' books Review: A friend at church loaned me this book. This book has left me feeling so small and unworthy of such a wonderful God. Since I became a Christian, two years ago in August 1997, God has performed several miracles in my life, one being healing my lungs to the extent that I no longer require supplemental oxygen twenty four hours a day. I had been oxygen dependant for over eleven years and now only require it in emergencies. I praise the Lord for this miracle and all the others He continues to show me. I literally shook as I read Maxs' book, because I am a living testament to the healing powers Max refers to of our Lord Jesus Christ. May the Lord continue to bless Max Lucado with word to touch other souls so they too may know, God IS still with us. We need only to seek Him. HE WILL ANSWER!
Rating: Summary: Just couldn't put it down.... Review: I enjoyed this book so much. I bought the book out of curiousity after skimming through it. It has been one of the best purchases that I've made. Mr. Lucado's words are such an inspiration; you can really feel and identify what has been written. This book isn't just for Christians; it's for anyone who has gone through struggles and know that there's a light on the other side.
Rating: Summary: Good message. Review: I found this book to give me a lot of good ideas in ministry. I enjoyed reading it as a gift from a friend. Many need to hear this message in their lives a lot.
Rating: Summary: Another Triumph for Max Lucado Review: In his usual way, Max Lucado gets his point across with great depth of feeling and sensitivity while remaining on the cutting edge of what's happening today. We are using this book for a Bible Study program and every member of the group is finding the insights contained in this book helpful and stimulating. The Study Guide at the back provides excellent group or individual questions. The illustrations are right in keeping with what is happening in our world at this moment in time. A wonderful book that is helping people to come to a closer knowledge of God and God's love for them.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: In my opinion this is one of Max Lucado's most inspirational books. It was the first one I read. I just happened to begin to read it shortly after my daughter was born with severe anoxic brain damage. At a time in my life where there were many questions and not a lot of answers God showed me through Max's words that He still moves stones. Great reading for any Christian.
Rating: Summary: Christ meeting people where they hurt Review: Lucado is a master at expanding on biblical passages, fleshing them out with word pictures to the point where you feel that you are right there witnessing every word, every action. Here he takes us on a tour of Jesus' ministry where He meets and tends to a number of hurting people.
He ties these moments in to our modern day struggles and shows us that those examples aren't in the Bible just to show us what Jesus did. They are there to show what Jesus does in the lives of those who look to Him. With his usual excellent stories and often unexpected humor, Lucado reminds us that the tender, loving Christ of the Bible is alive and well, and working in our lives still today.
Each chapter has its own study guide at the back of the book, with personal questions under the heading "Looking Under the Stones", and a scripture study called "Building on the Rock". If you have struggles in your life that seem hopeless, this is an excellent reminder that Christ does care, and He still works in our lives for God's glory.

Rating: Summary: Excellent Encouragement for Struggling Christians! Review: Max Lucado has become one of the most read Christian writers because of his encouraging books and this one is no exception! The theme of this book is to show how God moved during biblical times and encouragement for the reader to realize and believe that the same God is still at work today. Some of the subjects covered by Lucado include: 1. Overcoming shame. 2. Facing discouragement. 3. How to love growing old. 4. When others let you down. 5. When you are out of choices. 6. When you're trapped by legalism. 7. When you wonder if God cares. 8. When you are afraid of the future. There are a total of 21 such subjects and Lucado addresses them like only he can - by describing a biblical example, how Jesus addressed the issue, and how you can have hope for today. God is not silent, He still works in the lives of believers! Read the book and be encouraged to hang in there when things get tough. God is for us, not against us!
Rating: Summary: He Never Ceases to Amaze Review: No, He never ceases with His Loving Grace. What God had done in a time when he moved the stone from all suffering. He Still Moves Stones even now. He never changes. When everyone needs a miracle, he still does that department. It's the stones in our lives that keep us from seeing what God has done for us. The Bible is filled with people who had questions like we did. Max Lucado reminds us when God spoke to Moses at the burning bush still speaks to us. God forgave King David and still offers us forgiveness. God was with Joseph when he felt confused by God's actions. God heard Joseph's prayer and brought him out of adversity. Even God helped men and women through the ages still comes to you. He came to do what you can't to move the stone away to know his answer.
When we're hindered by the obstacles that prevents us from fulfilling our hopes and dreams. We can rely on the Savior of Second Chances. The purpose of the stories inside this book is to tell what 'Jesus Does' NOT what he did. According to Paul, he said, "Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us. The Scriptures give us patience and encouragement so that we can have hope" [Rom. 15:4]. When there's nowhere to turn, there's a never-say-die Galilean who touched with kindness and words of mercy for a sad heart. He fulfilled the prophecy: "a bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out." Even through the most deepest shame we have suffered. We must get help to see us through or we'll never see the dawn. When you hear the words from Jesus, "I don't judge you guilty, go and sin no more" [John 8:11]. Even when some of us are marked by bitterness. And at times we're called to love, expecting nothing in return. What have we learned from this? Is it what we have is more important than what we don't have. Even if our dreams don't happen, it's all right to dream again. But one things for certain. When our stone is too great for us to budge. There's always God, greater than any stone. From way back when and even now. Because He still moves stones. If you need any stones removed this is a great inspirational, helpful guide in setting you free.
Rating: Summary: A very moving book Review: The portraits of the people who have encountered the Lord Jesus were so vividly described by Max Lucado that I felt I travelled back in time to witness the change in these people's lives. I was reminded that the stories I so often read in the Bible were not just fairy tales but these were stories of real people in real life situations -- people just like you and me. This is one of the best books I've ever read.
