Summary: The TRUTH is out there
Review: The truth is Islam contnues to grow faster than any religion.
Even after 9/11 the number of converts in the US alone almost
doubled from 40,000/year to 78,000/yr. Now you go tell these
ex-christians, ex-jews and ex whatever that Islam is a violent
and barbaric religion and see what they say. Funny how the
majority of these converts or should I say reverts are women. I
suggest you get this documentary
(http://www.pbs.org/empires/islam/), which can be purchased of
amazon, that was made by non-muslims and see what Islam is and
used to be. Also read the Quran (http://web.umr.edu/~msaumr/Quran/).
It is obvious that these people that like this book have closed
minds and 1 sided opinions and views.

Summary: Have an open mind!
Review: The world has labelled Islam and all Muslims. They are considered evil and a variety of other rude things. But the sad part comes in when people, such as Robert Spencer, write books about a religion they know almost nothing about. How is anyone expected to gain a fair and unbiased perspective on a religion (or anything for that matter) when the source of all information regarding the religion is so biased in itself. [...] There are hundreds of things in his book [...] which are very distorted. [...] Islam is a good religion. I now intreat you not to read a book [...] but study the religion itself if you want to know something. Pick up a translated Koran, talk to a real Muslim, or at least read something from a third party who does not want to make any religion look good or bad (Karen Armstrong is a good author).

Summary: Don't buy it - I only gave it 1 star as you have to select.
Review: This book should be removed from your amazon list.
Am I the only one that remembers that "religious fundementalism" simply means following the fundementals/core beliefs of a religion? Why when linked with islam is this always portrayed negatively? The supposed historical analysis and factual objectivity in this book is infact blatant orientalism. It reeks of orientalism: always comparing everything to the west and beginning with the assumption that the west's ways are superior.
If we want to learn about Islam we'll have to read texts for Muslim authors and historians because our writers will always be hindered by our "SUPERIORITY complex".
