Summary: can't put it down
Review: I couldn't put it down! A compelling, fascinating, well-crafted story. Lots of fun.

Summary: One of the best fiction works ever
Review: In short, this is a story of two men from very different backgrounds whose paths cross on their ruthless struggles to fortune. Mr. Archer never lets you put this novel down. This is the best of the trilogy that Archer wrote and is an example for exemplary fiction by an impeccable writer. Once in a while you come across a book that makes you laugh, cry and hold your breath in suspense while providing an ecstasy of excitement.

William Lowell Kane is born to a powerful banking family in Boston while Abel Rosnovski is a polish immigrant to US after surviving the dangers of war. This novel follows in detail about the arduous tasks and tortures they face in their own way and how each one's path cross over. The master of prose explores in an intricately woven story, which is full of struggles, resilient brilliance of the two heroes and the power struggle of the two characters.

I think it is the best novels I have ever read. Most of the people tell me that 'Kane and Abel' is their favorite novel of all times. I was traveling while I was almost near the completion of the book and all the while I kept reading as I could just not put it down. All in all, a splendid book. Grab it and read it soon if you have not already. Deserves all the five stars and more in my opinion.

Summary: One of the few fiction books that you WON'T put down.
Review: Jeffrey Archer has written many international best sellers and this is one of his best works followed by the sequel to this book - 'The Prodigal Daughter'. Jeffrey Archer himself has quite an impressive background in real life. In 1969, he became the youngest member of the House of Commons in United Kingdom.

This particular book could have been based on a true story as it is mentioned at the beginning of the book that this book was made possible due to two men whose identities cannot be revealed.

The story - is about two men William Kane and Abel Rosnovski who come from opposite backgrounds and make it big in America. Kane is born and raised in a wealthy banking family while Abel is a poor Polish immigrant that survives extreme hardship before ending up in America. Due to his own ability and his background in the banking industry, Kane makes becomes a powerful force in that industry while Abel through his sheer determination and ruthless attitude builds an empire in the hotel industry.

Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding caused by a negative encounter at the beginning of their careers, they become sworn enemies and it seems like nothing can change it. Even when Kane's son and Abel's daughter fall in love, get married, and have a child, it doesn't seem to influence these two men to overcome their intense hatred for each other.

This book is extremely well written and Jeffrey Archer has a way of telling a story where you can't stop reading till you reach the end. The vocabulary is not that difficult but the author uses his extraordinary writing style to tell the story as if you are right there where it's all happening.

It has been a common experience among Jeffrey Archer fans that they literally can't put this book down till they get to the end. The other common experience is that Jeffrey Archer fans read this book again and again every few years and it still keeps their interest. It is true in my own case also where this was the only fiction book in my life that kept me awake till 6 a.m. in the morning when I started reading at 10 p.m. the previous night. I was a teenager and got in trouble with my Mom for staying up all night to read this book (even though it was my summer vacation).

I recently read this book and felt the same sense of awe and inspiration that I did almost 20 years back when I first read the book. I have read it a couple more times in these 20 years and it is always the same amazing experience. That's why I decided to spend a few minutes and write this review to share my experiences with others.

If there is one new fiction author whose books you want to try, you won't regret picking Jeffrey Archer. The best book to start with is this one - Kane and Abel. After this book, the pleasure continues if you read the sequel which is equally engrossing 'The Prodigal Daughter'. The perfect book to read on a vacation but not on a plane as you would regret not being to finish it. Enjoy!

Summary: One of the most intriguing and fascinating books I ever read
Review: The story revolves around two men who by some strange fate are born on the same day in 2 different parts of the world.....but destiny makes them each other's worst enemies. One a polish immigrant and the other the son of a bostonian millionaire heir of a large fortune.. Read about their life struggle as both these ambitious men try to outwit each other.. A tale of ambition, power, struggle, lust blends all aspects to be the bestselling best seller ever. The climax is sure to melt your hearts away it was simply unbelievable. If anyone can guess the ending without reading it i'd be willing to give a million bucks to him. A must read novel!!Don't miss it guys!!

Summary: Kane & Abel - Polish nobleman versus American banker
Review: This book is realy woderfull. I could not put this book away while reading. Jeffrey Archer put the action in the real world with a knowledge of the reality of Poland before the second war and the post war era. This is what I like about it. Since I am Polish I can say that the fact from the begining of Abel's life are set in the reality of those time. The Russian soldiers were shown in the actual reality what I know from the facts that my father was telling me about them. Anyway the characters of Abel and Kane are drawn nicely to shaw thedrive to success. Kane is driven by the financial purpooses to get rich by all means, while Abel's success is driven by his stubborness to destroy Kane who was gilty of dead of Abel's former boss. The action of this book is swift, and is very characteriscal to all books of Jeffrey Archer. Second part of this book "The Prodigal Daugther" is in the same style. I highly recomend to everyone this book, and of course when you read "Kane & Abel" do not forget to read "The prodigal daughter" to have the full picture of Kane's family.
