Summary: Wonderful book!
Review: Having been written in the 1870s, the book documents how people in NY really lived at that time, how they spoke, what they thought of the issues of the day, and how they treated one another, specifically, how they treated women. All classes of women are portrayed, from wealthy society women, to middle-class working girls, to the lowest class of the poor. Very eye-opening, and worthwhile reading. Good action-filled story too. We really have come a long way, baby!
