Summary: Je Mange Donc Je Maigris!
Review: I really enjoyed this book- it was fun too read plus offered a lot of good advice. I felt that the basic differences on our lifestyles compared to the French threw off the usefulness of the menu examples; the typical American lunch doesn't encompass rabbit, scalloped turkey, pureed string beans (thankfully, although in France I'm sure they're delicious) or duck... But the general principles were sound and I did loose weight without suffering deprivation(or what we Americans would turn out for pureed stringbeans). Two similar diet plans (with books written in english) are the Suzanne Somers diet and The Carbohydrate Addict's Diet by Drs. Richard and Rachel Heller. My only criticism of this selection is that this particular Amazon offering is not the entire book but a cassette and a booklet(only about 4 inches square that fits in the plastic cassette case). The actual title in question is a full length, 275 page book and worth reading in entirety if you can get your hands on it.

Summary: I would definitely recommend this book!
Review: Je Mange donc Je Maigris (I eat, therefore I lose weight) is a very successful diet from France. Too bad it's not in English!

Much like the Atkins diet, Je Mange donc Je Maigris is based on a low-sugar, high protein diet. This diet varies from the Atkins diet, in that whole-grains are allowed and Caffeine and sodas are strictly prohibited. (I believe that Atkins may mention reducing caffeine, but the Montignac diet strictly forbids it)

Montignac's style is light, and the book was an interesting read. The author compares modern French eating habits to the Americans, (Quelle Horreur!) But he manages to make a pretty good case for himself.

The only critique I would have is that Montignac seems not to focus at all on fat, but totally on sugar.

I lost weight on Je Mange donc Je Maigris, felt a lot better after reducing my sugar and caffeine intake, and continued to lose weight for a couple of months after I stopped (I went on the diet for approximately 3 months). In all, I lost a total of 25 pounds on the diet.

If you need to lose weight, or are just interested in reducing your sugar intake, read this book!

Review: This book is considered as one of the most helpful books in deiting. One of my friends became another thin person after a couple of month, what she did is only reading this book and abiding by it.
